As we near the end...

...I have concerns.

I initially didn't think I'd like Breaking Bad 'cause I thought it would be difficult for me to like characters that make and deal drugs. Although I am a tree-huggin' liberal and advocate legalization, how can you like people who do so much damage?

But I was wrong. I instantly was on board. It jumped through some sketchy hoops, but still made the journey to compelling.

Flash forward through near-perfect seasons and I'm left with worry.

I'm picturing this all ending like Scarface. A bloodbath. The true horror for these characters would be to survive whatever is coming their way, to continue living the lives they are and to realize how awful it is. Sure, they would have some loss. But not their lives.

But it won't. Everyone will die and I will be disappointed. (We've seen it before!) Mike's death I'm sure previews what is yet to come, as Walt will now go after Mike's "loose ends".

Presently I'm left with a dilemma. Walt is now two dimensional, albeit still very compelling. There are no hidden moments of worry or fear. He had one when he shot Mike, but one in a million. It's very good mugging, but it's still mugging from Cranston. It's not his fault. It's just not in the writing at the moment. It's been like this since season 4.

But I still can't wait to see what happens. Destination viewing.

(But this breaking 'til next year thing is just stupid.)
