Edie Falco's Milwaukee Connection
23 January 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Emmy award-winner Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie") is on a mission to discover the truth behind her mother's family history.

I went into this not knowing Edie Falco. I was familiar with the "Finding Your Roots" series (which I love), and wanted to see how Falco was connected to Milwaukee (which I knew from the preview). This is the only "Who Do You Think" that features Wisconsin, making it something special to me, someone with very, very deep roots in Wisconsin.

Now, I do not know anything about the Megrath family, but I was eager to see where the journey would take Falco. Great to see Charles Childs Brown attached to the Milwaukee News, making him a notable person. And even better to see Amanda Koehler and the Milwaukee County Historical Center. Having spent a good deal of time there, I can confirm that Koehler is exceptionally helpful.

One thing that makes this show slightly better than "Finding Your Roots" is that they actually travel to the cities they look up (Milwaukee, Penzance). The downside, however, is that they seem to rely very heavily on Ancestry.com, which sort of makes this more an advertisement and less about the actual digging.
