This German flick is hyped for only one reason. It's been compared
every time to The Thing (1982) since it's been released. I must say
that I understand why because some virus of living thing is hiding in
bodies to transform them into nasty creatures. So far the comparison.
I did like TheThing, it still is in my Top 5 all time horrors since I
started watching horror in the early eighties. So I thought that this
one should become a classic too for me but I wasn't happy at the end.
It's not that there isn't any action or whatsoever but sometimes it was
a bit too much about Janek (Gerhard Liebmann) and his lost love in a
way that you know that they would fall in love again towards the end.
On part of the effects and the horror itself it was okay but not that I
will recommend it to friends. Of course it's low budget but some
mutants are a bit cheesy, especially in the beginning. What I did like
was when humans were attacked by the mutants. Just see the operation
scene, that's well done.
But I never was sitting there watching it with suspense. therefor as I
said it had to much of blah blah sometimes.
Still, it's worth seeing but maybe I expected to much due the hype,
time will tell.
