The only episode that was solely written and directed by James Roday Rodriguez.
"¡Chupálo!", a comment made by Chavo Seacrest, actually means "Suck it!" in Spanish.
Contain at least three homages to The Blair Witch Project (1999): Chavo jokes that he kicked their map into the river, as Mike really did in the movie; Carlton's tearful extreme closeup apology mimics Heather's, including the knit cap; Kate stubbornly continuing to film after being shot and while still in the line of fire - much like Heather going on filming right up to her apparent end.
Kate tells Lassie that he looks like the love child of Tony Randall and Matthew Perry. Though James Roday pretty quickly became the first choice for Shawn Spencer after he auditioned, he had to wait a few days to officially be offered the role, as the USA Network offered Matthew Perry the role of Shawn Spencer first and had to wait for Perry to answer, which he declined
Shawn mentions that Lassie once chased Gus with a Samurai sword which may be a reference to the episode "Hereere's Lassie" which was a parody of "The Shining". If Shawn is referring to that event, Carlton was actually carrying a Civil War era sword. But then again, Shawn isn't good with words so it's plausible he mixed the two up.
