Absolutely Hilarious
framptonhollis6 November 2016
Bill Burr is one of the best comedians out there. He manages to be dark, offensive, insightful, and creative all while making us laugh. This special I found to be particularly unique, not because its structure or style was very different, but because of the range of material Burr talks about and the way he tackles it. Various bits stuck out as very unique to me, and these bits are the ones that I simply didn't want to end!

While Bill Burr's style can be a little repetitive at times, the subjects he tackles are in no way repetitive. Over the course of 68 minutes, Burr cracks jokes about everything from plastic surgery to dogs to his own childhood-and as the special goes on and develops it simultaneously becomes more insightful and hilarious. Highly recommended for all of those who like a good laugh and aren't easily offended.

Bill Burr stands up for the males ......
PimpinAinttEasy25 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is my favorite Bill Burr special so far.

In this one, Bill Burr literally tears into irritating girlfriends and well ..... gold digging whores.

I guess some people might think that Burr is being misogynist, but he really isn't. He explains in a hilarious way how mainstream media, culture and marriage laws are completely anti-male. I could hear a lot of women laughing in the audience.

The bit about Arnold Schwarzenegger is up there with some of the best stand up comedy of all time. The Arnold impersonations are pure genius. The part where Bill imitates all the fatties going "absolutely reprehensible ....." will make you roll on the floor with laughter. It was delivered perfectly. I wonder how many times he had to practice that part.

I cannot stop watching this special.

Bill Burr in top form

A Bill Burr comedy stand-up special from the Lincoln Theatre in Washington DC.

Brilliantly funny. Captures well the Bill Burr stand-up routine: essentially a rant against everything he doesn't like as well as observations on things happening in his life and in the world. Wonderfully intense, irreverent and un-PC.

great comedy for the intelligent viewer

Bill Burrs latest (2012) comedy special is laugh a minute stuff. If you've been following Bill's work for some time you'll notice that it includes mostly new material, and all of it has clearly been well honed on the US comedy circuit. He also includes some old stuff as well most of which has been beefed up for the new special - such as his rant about owning a pit bull or arguing with women - and the adaptations he makes to this material are interesting and cleverly made. His new material includes discussions about gun politics and buying a gun, and the politics of domestic relationships. His views on the latest Schwarzenegger debacle are hilarious while also having a real and quite interesting message for the audience.

This Guy Should Be a Politician

Ok, maybe not THAT far but he makes some seriously valid hilarious points. He's hilarious, sees things for what they are and is FEARLESS about his stance on a lot of topics.

Not a surprise, I laughed so hard to tears so many times, I had to get a box of tissues nearby. I am not a guy and yet I can agree with and LAUGH AT everything that comes out of this guy's mouth.

A must see, esp if you miss REAL humor Carlin style.

Top Shelf Burr

This is easily Bill's most quoted stand up special.

You'll love this if you love Bill Burr's style of angry, faux-controversial comedy.

His ability to absolutely nail topics such as guns + rednecks, women and their self-anointed superiority, gold diggers and domestic violence. All topics that very easily cause controversy, he nails with a brilliant combination of brutal honesty together with over-exaggeration without causing an uproar. He is sublime at applying the 'callback' technique in a quick, but obviously subtle way to add a quick laugh in the middle of a story to keep the audience laughing.

This is the special that was so successful he's used its content on all the television spots. For good reason too.

I've watched this many times and I'm still laughing at it.

Carlin would be proud

Great to see his take on modern issues no one is willing to address. He and Dave Chappelle are not comedians, but philosophers.

Thinking person's comedian
VoyagerMN19865 September 2015
Burr is the thinking person's comedian.

His shredding of false and specious use of stats by the "more and more" gun control nuts hits perfectly. This stand-up is from 2012. Using current events from that time shows its age, and the Schwarzenegger bit is a little old at this point. But The rest of it holds up great.

His bits on relationships are also great, nuance and the starkly obvious combined.

If you have seen his earlier material live or on his many late night TV appearances, this has enough new material that it will be fresh to even his fans.

Great comedy for the common redneck
TVpotatoCat14 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
His jokes by themselves were okay. Nothing hilarious but did get a small laugh from me from time to time. By itself I would give it 7 out of 10. But the stupid things he said just made it unpleasant to watch some portion of the time. His whole demeanor gave a vibe of a very unbalanced person, full of unresolved issues.

There was also this disgusting part where he started to humiliate a woman in the audience and call her names. A woman who paid money to go watch his show. Like a bully. He's maybe not a women beater, but take this behaviors and add it to the long monolog of his about why no one asks what a woman did to make a man beat her you can see that he's not very far from it.

"Look, I realize I'm coming off pretty ignorant right about now."
classicsoncall15 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This comedy special is a perfect example of how hypocritical people can be in regard to what otherwise would strike most as entirely offensive. It starts right at the beginning of Burr's monologue when he says he's gotta get a gun in LA. Apparently no one from the anti-gun lobby was present because he got a welcome response. Not that his points weren't well made, but in another time and place, they'd be trying to shut this guy down. Or how about when he went after the lady in the audience that he thoroughly demeaned. The #Metoo folks would have had a meltdown over it, but the crowd just went right along. Look, I know it's comedy, and not supposed to be taken seriously, but even Burr knows he's pushing hot buttons, while glossing over his points by shouting and cursing a blue streak. For me, it takes some of the humor right out of the routine, even when he's making valid points.

Bill Burr: You People Are All the Same
bombersflyup11 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Prefer Burr's more recent standup shows, where he's realized he's better than some of the mediocre material he's spouting here, that any random hack comedian might do. There's a lot of stuff about his wife/girlfriend and their relationship as well, with behavior that's very singular to them. Not the high-level observational humour of his other shows, though there's some good stuff here of course; the shotgun bit and the Schwarzenegger bit. The dog bit's alright, but you shouldn't be allowed to have PitBull's as pets though... He's funny, but seeing dog attacks first-hand, it's not really that funny.
