Disaster hit!!
sasikanth208 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I have to admit this, what a film! If I had no brains, this definitely would have been a classic. Thank god for I am still sane and haven't lost it yet! Firstly, I'd like to know if the director Sampath Nandi is an educated man. If so, is he from this generation, or is he re-living in his after life?? Cos in my opinion, no sensible man would try to make such kind of dumb-ass pathetic movie. The story made no absolute sense, and the screenplay was horrendous. The best part for me was when, out of the blue, our villain arranges for traps and Ninja warriors in a jungle in AP, minutes after discovering where our hero is. I mean how did he even do that?? Wow!! Ram Charan, where do I even start?? OK, his dances are pretty good, but someone needs to tell this moron (spare my words), that his dances alone are not going to make him a mega power star or what ever he's called. Trust me, if he weren't Chiranjeevi's son (who happens to be one of my favorite "actors"), this guy wouldn't even get to be hero's sidekick. Maghadeera was a hit because of Rajamouli, not this jackass. The whole cast was absolutely wasted. Senior artists like Bramhanadam, Ali, Kota, Geeta, Mukesh Rushi, Nassar all looked like idiots. Cinematography by Sameer Reddy was alright (thank god for that), but editing by Gowtham Raju was pathetic. It's the worst editing I've seen so far, for the scene changed on most occasions even without the artiste completing his or her dialogue. Dialogues bu Paruchri Brothers are a disaster. And music?? It was a relief, trust me, to have songs barging in into the script without any reason. Except for "Vaana Vaana" song, the rest were alright (Even third grade remixes are better than the one used in the movie). Overall, a disaster. If this film is declared a hit (which I believe it is), I can't imagine what will happen to the Telugu industry in the future.

Its a routine telugu film
mailtorajeshiv8 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the worst movie. Its hard to believe that film is directed by sampath Nandi who have made a good movie Emaindi Evela inspired from true events in Hyderabad.

After the disastrous Orange, Ram Charan took a long break to get back in form but Rachcha does not prove his capabilities.

The story in the movie has no strength.Scenes like Ram Charan doing Shankar Dada MBBS, proposing the lead lady are good .The first half of Racha was quite entertaining with somewhat comedy, fights and songs.

while watching the second half of the movie i start thinking what a stupid movie i am watching and also waited for how soon the movie would finish.

Actress Thammanna and Ajmal Ameer (Rangam movie fame) did fine job. Song are good expect remix song (vaana vaana from gang leader). choreography for Thammana is fine and cheran is average. The whole cast in the movie was wasted.Editing is not at all fine. over all the movie is not worth to watch.

Mediocrity at its Best
krshychait10 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
There seems to be a new template for any Telugu film, that is the hero should have a deceased savior-like father and a village waiting to be a rescued, and few uniformed thugs waiting to get killed by the custom-designed weapon of the hero, a girl who waits to be wooed by the hero in spite of the threats posed by her father. And not to forget few girls (if there are some mature women who can mouth some silly dialogues much the better) singing paeans of the physique of the hero and a gang of silly comedians waiting to be thrashed (mind you not killed) by the villain. Rachcha is no different. Rachha starts with Cherry, a 5-year old boy being witness to a mass deaths of his village along with his parents and dearest friend Ammu. The same boy grows into Betting Raj (Ram Charan Teja) who just loves betting. He places bets and wins money. His adopted father (MS Narayana) falls ill and needs around 20 lakhs for the medical treatment. A competitor of him in his bets, James (Ajmal) throws him a bet for 20 lakhs in which he has to make, Chaitra (Tamanna), the daughter of a most-feared contractor, Bellary (Mukesh Rishi) fall in love with him. From then on, Raj focuses on winning the love of Chaitra. But little does he know that Chaitra has a past which has links to his own past and the deaths of his parents and villagers. What is the common past which they both share? Who are Raj and Chaitra? To find the answers for these questions, catch Rachha on screen. As we said earlier, Rachha is not a enjoyable ride. It does not have an engaging screenplay though the story is decent, though routine. It just rests its weight on the shoulders of its hero, Ram Charan and nothing more. The young star does manage to hold on his own and the present collections and success is just due to him. Other than the presence of Ram Charan, the movie is just a nightmare. There is no proper transition from scene to scene which is imperative for any movie. The director Sampath Nandi has clearly set his audience, which are set in the B&C centers and catered to their tastes only. If he could have polished his screenplay a bit and ensured that the flow from one scene to the other scene to be smooth without being out-of-place, the things would have been different. For instance, the audience expect its the most popular "Vana Vana Velluvaaye" song to come with proper build-up but it just pops on to the screen without any hungama, which is a dampener of sorts. Also the danger posed by the villainous trio is not established properly. All the villainy showed was a bunch of uniformed jokers parading as security for Chaitra. For that purpose, the director had to bring in another villain in the form of Dev Gill, though he added nothing other than to repeat the Magadheera sentiment. The director had no clue on how to elevate the characterisation of his hero and hence had to make the heroine reveal all his characteristics in one scene. Also the flashback episode in which Partibhan plays the father of Ram Charan, is surprisingly lackadaisical. In fact, the most powerful father character was reduced to be a victim rather than a savior. If the director and his bunch of experienced writers in the form of Paruchuri Brothers, ironed out some flaws in the characterisation of the hero and villains, "Rachha" would have been a true commercial entertainer for all the classes rather than limiting itself for the B & C centers. Coming to the performances, Ram Charan is the one who carried the film on his shoulders. His diction improved a lot compared to "Orange" and he seems to be evolving as an actor. But he tried to imitate his father, Chiranjeevi, a lot and the deliberate attempt was seen in many scenes. If Charan concentrates on developing his own brand of acting than imitating, then he sure would be a powerhouse of a performer. He needs to develop that story and screenplay sense. The bravura he showed in selecting the director should have echoed in the story and screenplay too. Tamanna, as usual looked milky-white than beautiful. She was mechanical in the role, unlike the spunk she showed in her last release, Oosaravelli. May be she was disinterested in the proceedings and so looked forlorn. Mukesh Rishi, Dev Gill, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, Nasser, Partibhan were all routine. Comedy gang in the form to Brahmanandam, Ali, Venumadhav, Srinivasa Reddy, Tagubothu Ramesh, Jhansi were all too routine. For a change MS Narayana became a character actor than a comedian. Ajmal, the actor who thrilled with his villainy in Rangam, shines in his short role. The technical departments, Camera (Sameer Reddy), Music (Mani Sharma) and Art (Anand Sai), Editing (Gowtam Raju) were just passable. Few of the songs had good choreography and they would please their target audience. The Re-recording by Mani Sharma given did not add much to the film and just remained as a routine fare. Rachha is a ride in mediocrity though it could have been much better. After seeing this film, one would feel that "Bunny" which had a similar storyline was a classic in this genre. Well, that is Rachha for you folks.

Pathetic Movie
vamshianand9 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Rachcha is not a movie. It is an excuse to showcase Ramcharan as a superstar hero. The director has made all the other veteran actors look like idiots in the movie.

Despite having all the famed comedians, the comedy in the movie is degraded. Ramcharan does not have the ability to deliver any lengthy dialogue. His introduction was done by Venu Madhav and another lengthy dialogue was delivered by the heroine. PATHETIC! Who wants to go to a movie to just see him and his dances and his "style" walk! That is not supposed to be the criteria to make a good movie. The director has not used any creative sense on when to sequence songs/fight/comedy/action throughout the film.

My advice would be to not watch this movie.

Awful movie
abhi-uppala8 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Well, we went into this movie on a Saturday evening and I should admit we made a blunder by doing so. This movie is the most pathetic we have seen in recent times. All the time we were left wondering if the movie was scripted and shot when brains of everyone was OFF(if they really have them). The story lacks strength, comedy, suspense and what not but everything. It is time that actors like Ram Charan be banned from the industry. The fact that no main stream dialog was delivered by him speaks volumes to the confidence the director had on him. His introduction was delivered by a comedian and the next lengthiest one was delivered by the lead actress.

Despite having almost all comedians on-board, the film does not have any good comic scene. If you laugh for anything in this movie, you need to laugh at your fate of being there in the theater watching this crap.

On the whole, restrain yourself from watching this all non-sense movie and use that ticket fare for a better cause

This movie sucks big time
nov-61911 May 2012
I'm not from Andhra Pradesh and I don't know telugu. I watched this movie only because i couldn't get tickets for the others. I watched a Malayalam dubbed version. This movie is a frickin disaster. There's nothing in this movie that you could enjoy. First of all, the movie was predictable and the story was old and repetitive. Me and my friends were laughing our a$$es off at some of the superhuman abilities of the hero (happens in most of Indian the movies now). The story was nothing, acting was mostly overacting, I don't know anything about the songs, no character development at all, some stunts were good but most of them were unbelievable. Maghadheera was a classic while this movie is crap. Heard that this movie is a superhit in AP, it's almost killing me. these filmmakers are killing the Industry by filling some half baked cliché movies. Its a must not see movie. my rating: 1/10 (there's no more down)

Telugu industry never known about Hollywood. What they know is crap..
roger_paltalk00730 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The movie's total time is 2.15hrs but it seems like 5 hrs for me. These type of movies spoiling the other film industries in India. The only hero do 20x optical zoom in his mind when heroine was tied in that temple to find where she is. i don't know what is the use of comedians in this movie even 1980's people won't laugh for these comedies(the director's thinking). The body guard's of villain comes in line when fight is going to get hit from hero. Still now i don't know how that car is flying when hero wins the race in opening scene. There is no logic in this film. I never seen a crap movie like this before. Punch Dialogues are the best comedies in this film, I wanna see again this movie to laugh more and more. All scenes in this movie were look like cut and paste,U can guess all the scenes of the movie other than songs. Camera man focusing Apple I- pad always I don't why and don't know whats the use of it in this movie. I totally enjoyed this movie lot(only to laugh when they think they are talking seriously)

Rachcha

Rachcha is a mass mas-ala entertainer with all mass actions.. Ram char-an's performance is not up to the mark...The expressions char-an made in action n comedy scenes are too worst ...Tammana is so good in the movie ...Especially the song Vanna Vanna is so terrific ....Except that one song there is nothing in the film ...Better to avoid it !! While coming to the comedy scenes, the actors like bharmanandhnam and Ali are good but not perfect ...venu's character is wasted ...overall the movie some what looks like the remake of an old movie. The director sampath is not so good at the script .. Overall it's a blw avg movie ....

Story

Raj (Ram Charan Tej) is called as betting Raj because of his obsession for betting. James (Ajmal) is his betting enemy. Raj wants 20 lacs for the surgery of his adopted father. James is ready to offer 20 lacs as betting amount if Raj woos and wins over Chaitra (Tamanna). Chaitra is the daughter of a billionaire Bellary (Mukesh Rishi) The rest of the story is all about how Raj makes Chaitra fall for him and the troubles that follow.

Artists Performance

Ram Charan Tej: Ram Charan has proved himself as a terrific man for the masses with his first two films. He has chosen a safe and time-tested mass script this time. He is excellent with dialogues, dances, fights and mannerisms. You can find a lot of references to Gharana Mogudu in his mannerisms.

Others: Tamanna has a weighty role in this movie and does justice. She has danced with amazing fluidity. Ajmal (Rangam fame) plays an important role and he is good. Mukesh Rushi is routine. Brahmanandam's comedy is partly okay. Ali's cameo is nice. Parthiban is very good as the father of hero. MS Narayana is a miscast for the role of hero's adopted father. The sympathy factor will not work out if you cast a comedian for role of a patient with critical illness. Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao did an important role.

Technical departments Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is in an old-format. There are a couple of interesting screenplay twists in the second half. Director Sampath Nandi chose this film to be a tribute to Chiranjeevi's early 90's films (Gharana Mogudu, Gang Leader etc). If you look at hero's entrance scene, he gives away winning money to friend sister's studies. In Gharana Mogudu, hero gives away winning money to hero friend sister's marriage (chelli nikka pakka). When the purpose is to make a film as a tribute 90's films, you can't expect the direction to be fresh and new. Sampath made sure that there are fun elements in the first half and surprise elements in the second half.

Other departments: Dialogues written by Paruchuri brothers are powerful as well as funny at times. They came out of their trade mark lengthy dialogue pattern and penned short/smart dialogues. There is a controversial dialogue - "Edo choosukuni thodalu kotte type kaadura nenu". Cinematography by Sameer Reddy is mostly good. Cinematography for a few scenes in the first half is inconsistent. Music scored by Mani Sharma is good - Dilak Dilak and Vaana Vaana being the best in terms of visuals. Editing should have been crisp. Fights are well composed. Production values are grand.

Analysis: First half has a bit of fun. Second half has story and twists. Plus points of the film are Ram Charan Tej and dialogues. On the flip side, freshness in story and better handling of the film would have made this film connect with the contemporary audiences. Racha film is made for fans and masses

Tamannah + Ram Charan + Music.
TharsheyN29 October 2022
Racha has a weak story line, I found it interesting at first when I heard the backstory of the two families etc but then it ended up being Ram Charan trying to make a girl fall for him for a bet. I mean imagine you get a girl to fall for you and she finds out everything you did and said was because of a bet... I predict a unhappy ending there lol. Anyway the story was rather weak as I said, it didn't make the most sense and was rather wonky to follow. However put aside the logic and it's not absolutely terrible. You don't watch Racha for the story... You watch it to see Ram Charan and Tammanah.

The cast was really good, Ram Charan is good looking and kicked ass throughout the film. Tamannah is well... Tamannah. She is absolutely stunning, like seriously, she is just so god damn beautiful, especially when you see her in the songs Dillaku Dillaku and Vaana Vaana. Both Ram Charan and Tammanah gave good accounts of themselves in terms of the script and the opportunities they had on screen.

The music is the best part of the film, like I absolutely loved the songs. Racha (Title song) was nice, Dillaku Dillaku was my favourite song in the entire film, for the lyrics and also for Tamannah in her stunning red outfit. Vaana Vaana was also great and I just really enjoyed all the songs and dance performances in the movie.

I give Racha a 6/10. 2,5 stars for Tammanah/Ram Charan and another 2,5 stars for the music. The story gets 1 star from me. If you looking for a fun movie to enjoy, with some over the top action, silly storyline and happy romantic ending then give Racha a try. I did enjoy it after all and would probably watch it again eventually.
