Plot Summary

  • Kanji Lalji Mehta is the owner of a small shop selling religious goods, though he himself is an atheist. He cooks up some or the other explanation and is able to extract a lot of money from his customers. But when an earthquake destroys his only source of income and the insurance company refuses to pay up on the basis of 'act of God', Kanjibhai takes God to the court. Having many people clinging their hopes to him but not having any experience of fighting a case in court, he is not able to prove his point due to lack of evidence that is, not until he is approached by a person who introduces himself as Krishna Vasudeva Yadav. Krishna helps Kanji win his case, his family and helps him find his faith in God. The film shows us how priests can turn religion into a business and that God can be found everywhere and particularly in a house of worship.
