Storyline

Sunday evening, May 1, 2011. The ACN news team is at Will's for a party to mark a year of good reporting. Charlie gets a call alerting him to a major news announcement at 10. By 9:00, everyone's on their way to the studio (with Will under the influence of a Vicodin and two pot-laced cookies). Don, Sloan, and Elliot are stuck on the tarmac at LaGuardia waiting for a gate. As the team uses brains and sources to narrow the possibilities - and get confirmation of what's going on - Charlie has to make the call as to when they go on the air: get it right without collateral damage. By evening's end, he gets a second tip suggesting that another story is brewing. Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>

Trivia

The Rock's ...Land of the free home of the brave." Tweet discussed by Neal, Kaylee and Charlie really happened. The Rock sent it out about an hour before President Obama's news conference. In addition The Rock really does have a cousin who was a SEAL, a fact The Rock mentioned in a 2008 interview. See more »

Goofs

Don, Elliot and Sloan are sitting in economy class seating flying between Washington DC and New York's LaGuardia Airport. There would be at least a bulkhead and three rows of first class seating between them, the flight attendant position and the cockpit, making the physical confrontation shown between Don and the flight crew impossible. 1.7 is **** When Discretion Has to Be Used ****
5 August 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Ethical considerations aside, this episode deals when the news media has to use discretion whether or not to announce a major story before the chief executive has his say. The story in question was the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

Sam Waterston is wonderful here, especially when he describes the mistake he made which led to the death of 3 people.

It also goes to show you that airline rules while in a plane must be observed.

While there is some time set aside for romantic bickering, the episode showed how the news team coalesces when a major story is breaking. It also shows what is done when someone may break that trust.
