The Bible tells us the coin that was brought to Jesus, when he was asked by the Pharisees: "Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" ...was a denarius. This is a dime-sized silver coin not the large chunky silver dollar-sized one that was shown which was more in keeping with the Tyre Shekel or "30 pieces of silver". See more »

A Preview Of Great Things To Come
24 April 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Betrayal is the third episode about Jesus. It continues towards the start of his passion and the court trial he experienced in the Sanhedrin.

It started when the high priest - Caiaphas - coaxes Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus' apostles into betraying his master. He agrees to do so in exchange for thirty pieces of silver. Then the Last Supper occurs. We see Jesus break the bread and wine. Also,he foretells that one of them is going to betray him. After their Passover celebration,Jesus and a few of his apostles goes into the Garden of Gethsemane where he prays for God for what is about to come in his life. After that,Jesus is arrested by the the soldiers of the High Priest with Judas identifying him.But Malchus' ear gets cut by Peter when they tried to protect Jesus.Nevertheless,Jesus healed Malchus and gave himself up.It concluded when he undergoes trial at the Sanhedrin where he is confronted by the High Priest. He was then found guilty by Caiaphas after he proclaims himself as the Son Of God.

The episode was a good preview of things to come particularly in the succeeding one wherein the viewer is treated to a better political thriller compared to this one.I think that the trial in the Sanhedrin showcased that especially how the Pharisees felt about Jesus especially when they him as someone who is a danger to the establishment the could endanger their influence to the Jewish people.I think that mini-series showed that very well. And if they did good with the Caiaphas and his cohorts, expect them to do better when Jesus faces Pilate.
