The Ministry Of Jesus
23 April 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Mission is the seventh episode of the mini-series and the second that tells the story of Jesus.

In it,we see how Jesus taught to the crowd and performed the miracle of feeding them - five thousand men not counting women and children - from five loaves and two pieces of fishes. Also,we get to see him raise Lazarus back to life. After these events,we witness his grand entrance into the city of Jerusalem on a donkey and was greeted by many people by raising the palms that they brought. It ended when he visited the temple and gets angry with the money changers that are conducting business in it.This made the Pharisees go against him.

I felt that the producers focused on the events that are considered "action-packed" during the ministry of Jesus instead of his focusing on his teachings particularly the miracle of feeding a crowd that are amounting to thousands - the only miracle only reported in all four gospels - and the raising of Lazarus back to life. Then the mini-series goes toward the first Palm Sunday. This only tells the viewer that the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus are coming soon in the next episodes.Although I am aware that this is only a 10-part mini-series,it would have been better for the producers to have at least given some consideration presenting Jesus giving the crowd at least his important teachings like love of God and love of neighbor. There is no doubt that the producers simply cherry picked very few and the only interesting events during his ministry. In a way,I think that the viewer was somewhat shortchanged especially those who were looking for them in in mini- series.
