An unlikely here, the young David, defeats Goliath and goes on to lead the Israelites to victory against the Philistines. Samuel And The Kings Of Israel.
21 April 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Kingdom focuses on the prophet Samuel and the three kings of Israel namely:Saul,David and Solomon.

The episode contains events such as the anointment of Saul as the first King of Israel by the prophet,Samuel. Also,we get to witness the many wars that King Saul was involved in and his jealousy towards his harpist,David. Then,we get to see the stories involving King David that includes the following: his anointment as a shepherd by Samuel, the killing of Goliath and the reign as king that ushered a golden age for the Israelites.Aside from that,it also includes the sin of the adultery the he committed when he lusted and seduced Bathesheba. After realizing the sin he did,he asked God's forgiveness. Finally, the episode concluded with the story of the reign of their son,King Solomon particularly when he build God's temple in Jerusalem.

I felt the the episode has too much stories to tell that an hour would probably not be enough especially with the narration of story of King David, who is one of the most important characters of the Old Testament.Too much time was used in telling the story of King Saul's war victories that it somewhat shortchanged the story of King Solomon. It would have been good it the viewer got to witness the immense wisdom that he has acquired instead of just showing him building God's temple in Jerusalem.Aside from that,we never get much idea about who Samuel is all about aside from being the prophet who anointed future kings of Israel. But nevertheless,I have seen this as the best episode of the mini-series so far as the narrative were told in magnificence particularly the events involving King David.
