Storyline

The Secret Service Department has traced opium smuggling to the village and sends one of their best men to ferret it out. His jovial manners and sketching outfit avert suspicion from him. He gets board in a fisherman's cottage and becomes acquainted with the daughter of the smuggler; he falls under the spell of the charms of the girl herself. At last he locates the hiding place of the stolen goods, but the detective is shot by the smugglers, who row off leaving him for dead. He fights for life, buffeted among the rocks by huge waves. The girl misses Jack, examines her father's gun and hastens to the island. There she finds the wounded man exhausted. She binds his cuts and helps him escape. Before going he promises to return and make her his wife. He reaches his office, sends in his report and faints. For weeks he lies unconscious.
