Dead Rising Feature Film for Crackle Finds a Director

20 August 2014 5:02 PM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

The Wrap is reporting that Leprechaun: Origins director Zach Lipovsky has signed on to direct the previously announced Dead Rising film adaptation from Legendary Entertainment and Crackle.

Sony's Crackle will give the 90-minute feature an exclusive digital release in the U.S. before the film receives a multi-platform release on Svod, VOD, DVD, and TV while Content Media Corp. (Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn) will distribute both feature-length and episodic formats on international platforms.

Dead Rising takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic -- with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage will all play a key role in the movie's story.

The script will be written by Tim Carter, who will also produce the film alongside Tomas Harlan »

First Look Photos: Another Toy Heads to the Big Screen in 'Max Steel'

3 July 2014 4:53 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

If The Lego Movie, Transformers and G.I. Joe just isn't enough toy based movies for your kids to enjoy, then you're probably in the mood for Max Steel. The first photos from the film based on the toy and animated series of the same name have arrived showing off Ben Winchell as Max McGrath, a teenage boy who learns he has hidden powers that when combined with an extraterrestrial friend named Steel, (see, it's the title!) produce the universe's most powerful energy. Andy Garcia and Maria Bello also star in the film, because everyone needs a paycheck. This looks pretty cheesy, and likely just for kids, but they don't really make films like this just for the young ones anymore, so maybe it'll be fun for them. Photos below!
