Ratings: CW’s ‘The Flash’ Soars to Season Highs; ‘NCIS’ Shows Roll for CBS

23 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The first Tuesday of the February sweep brought out original programming on all the broadcast networks, with CBS rolling behind “NCIS” and an above-average “NCIS: New Orleans,” and CW again finishing ahead of ABC thanks to season highs for “The Flash.”

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “The Flash” (1.6 rating/5 share in adults 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall) surged to its top 18-49 rating since its first crossover episode with “Arrow” in December 2014, placing second for its hour in the demo as well as total viewers. It also swelled by 25% in adults 18-34 (to 1.5), racking up the show’s highest rating since its series premiere. In both adults 18-34 and men 18-34, the Scarlett Speedster delivered the top broadcast rating of the night. (Note that CW did have some small-market pre-emptions for college basketball, though the network didn’t expect any real changes in the finals.)

Ratings: ‘NCIS’ Blows Away Competition on Tuesday

10 February 2016 9:01 AM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

“NCIS” easily carried CBS to a win in Tuesday night’s ratings, with the long-running procedural outdrawing all of its competition in both total viewers and in the key demographic. Airing at 8 p.m., “NCIS” scored 16.8 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in the adults 18-49 demo. That is more than double the viewership and nearly double the rating of its nearest competition on a competing network for the night, with NBC’s “Chicago Fire” drawing 8.1 million viewers and a 1.8 rating at 10. Meanwhile, on Fox, Megan Fox‘s debut on comedy series “New Girl” was good enough for a slight uptick. »

Ratings: Flash Hits 14-Month High, Draws Largest Audience in a Year

10 February 2016 8:31 AM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

The Flash‘s numbers on Tuesday night were out of this world. And out of the other world, too.

Pending adjustment due to infinitesimal Acc basketball preemptions, the CW’s sophomore sensation drew 3.96 million total viewers and a 1.6 rating (per finals), up 8 percent and two tenths to draw its largest audience in virtually a year (since Feb. 17, 2015) and deliver its best demo number since Dec. 2, 2014 (the first #Flarrow crossover).

TVLine readers gave the trip to Earth-Two an average grade of “A+.”

Music of the ancestors by Amber Wilkinson

Örvarsson: 'It was a very difficult film to score because it's so sensitive, so fragile. It would be so easy to be overpowering' Cannes Un Certain Regard winner Rams is out on release in the UK and Us now. The tragicomic Icelandic drama tells the story of two brothers, Gummi (Sigurður Sigurjónsson) and Kiddi (Theodór Júlíusson), who haven't spoken for decades despite living on neighbouring farms. When their flocks are threatened with extermination due to an outbreak of scabies, the pair discover they may have to communicate after all. Due to the near-silent lives that the brothers lead, music plays a key role in supporting the story and I caught up with Icelandic-born composer Atli Örvarsson at Sundance Film Festival last month, where the film screened in the Spotlight section.

Weekly Ratings: Super Bowl Vaults CBS Past NBC for Season Lead in Key Demos

10 February 2016 6:10 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Sunday’s telecast of the Super Bowl — the third most-watched program in U.S. television history — has given CBS a super-sized boost in the season’s most closely watched ratings races.

The Eye has leap-frogged NBC in adults 18-49 (leading by a tenth of a ratings point) and adults 25-54 (now up 0.3), while opening up its lead in total viewers to 2.85 million. NBC would appear capable of moving back ahead of the Eye in 18-49 ahead this spring with the returns of “The Voice” and top-rated new series “Blindspot,” but it’s way too early to make any definitive pronouncements.

The Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory in Super Bowl 50 from Santa Clara, Calif., averaged a 37.7 rating/80 share in adults 18-49 and 111.86 million viewers overall Sunday, according to Nielsen. The demo score was down 4% from last year to a seven-year low, but it still towers over everything else to air on television »
