In today’s TV news roundup, “Chicago P.D.” star Jon Seda is heading off to “Chicago Justice” full time. Plus, Wyclef Jean will appear in an episode of “Law & Order: Svu,” and there’s been a casting shakeup on USA Network’s pilot “Damnation.”

Dick Wolf’s “Chicago” franchise is playing a game of musical chairs, moving “Chicago P.D.” star Jon Seda over to “Chicago Justice” full time, Variety has confirmed.

Seda, who plays Antonio Dawson on “P.D.,” will reprise his same character on “Justice,” the newest show in NBC’s mega-franchise, which is set to debut midseason in 2017. On the legal drama, Dawson will now be an investigator for the Da’s office who will be partnered with fellow investigator Lori Nagle (Joelle Carter), Deadline reports. He will also star alongside Philip Winchester and Carl Weathers.

Precision takes 'Lawless Range' for UK

Exclusive: Home entertainment distributor will release the modern western, which features Kris Kristofferson and Beau Bridges.

London-based Precision Pictures has inked a deal with sales agent Starline Entertainment for Sean McGinly’s Texas-set, modern-day western Lawless Range.

Starring Austin Nichols (The Walking Dead) and Patrick John Flueger (Chicago Fire) alongside veterans Kris Kristofferson and Beau Bridges, the thriller focuses on two brothers who find themselves facing off against a dangerous group of criminals.

The Great Buck Howard’s McGinly directed the film from an Adair Cole script. Heath Ryan produced for his La-based outfit Pace Pictures. Beau Bridges exec produced.

Home entertainment label Precision Pictures, launched in December 2015 by UK distributor Signature Entertainment, is planning a Q1 2017 release for the film.

Starline’s director of worldwide distribution Julie Delaney commented: “We are absolutely delighted to see Signature’s Precision Pictures lassoing UK rights for Lawless Range; it’s a great team and wonderful to know Sean McGinly’s excellent »

How ‘Timeless’ is Creating New Worlds Each Week, from the Alamo to Sinatra’s Vegas

Timeless” production designer John Marcynuk could really use a time machine of his own.

Marcynuk and his team are charged with creating the various eras that the characters in NBC’s new time-traveling drama visit. So far, that includes re-creating the Alamo, Ford’s Theater during the assassination of President Lincoln, World War II, the 1962 casino floor of the Sands hotel in Las Vegas (plus the Copa room where the Rat Pack played) and Mission Control during the moon landing.

“I’m really happy with how it’s turning out creatively, but, logistically it’s got to be one of, if not the, hardest shows that I’ve ever worked on,” said executive producer Eric Kripke.

Dick Wolf Producing Unscripted FBI Series at USA Network (Exclusive)

Dick Wolf is adding yet another project to his lengthy credits. The super producer is working on an unscripted FBI series at USA Network, sources tell Variety.

The show, which is being produced in conjunction with the FBI, is currently in production and has been shooting in New York for quite some time, according to insiders, who say the network is eyeing a six to eight episode order. Wolf and Wolf Reality’s Tom Thayer will serve as executive producers, along with Marc Levin of Brick City TV and Anne Beagan from the FBI New York office of public affairs.

The project brings Wolf to USA Network with an original series, though the cable net is already home to his “Law & Order” franchise, airing upwards of 100 hours of repeats per month, which are very popular with the USA audience.

NBC Boosts Digital Stacking Rights for Fall Shows, Will Stream ‘Good Place’ Full Season for Free

NBC has secured “stacking rights” to 90% of its fall TV show lineup, including “The Voice,” “Saturday Night Live” and “Superstore,” and will offer the five most recent episodes for free on its website and mobile apps — as well as full seasons to subscribers of participating pay-tv providers.

In addition, the Peacock will offer the entire season of freshman comedy “The Good Place” for free, without requiring pay-tv authentication; it’s the only freshman show NBC owns full rights to. “The Good Place,” created by Mike Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation”), stars Kristen Bell as a woman who unexpectedly discovers she’s dead and Ted Danson as the architect of the afterlife she now finds herself in. It premieres Sept. 19 on NBC.

For pay-tv subs, this season NBC will offer the 25 most recent episodes of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and daytime drama “Days of Our Lives,” up from the five previously. Other »
