Overall great show... realistic.

As a lifetime car lover, I relate to what Derek has done to get the cars back on the road. Just keep to the track of the show. Bring them back to life and not have a ton of off camera work to make them run and function. I enjoy the different terms for things and his odd ball ratios used to describe things. I wouldn't mind jumping in, getting the hands dirty to assist on a build. He relates well to a lot of shade tree mechanics. Perhaps show a few things about points in old distributors and things done in the past to show this generation how things worked in the past. I will be watching season 2!

Derek is a great host
dprestia-128-9004997 February 2023
This is the perfect show for shade tree mechanics who don't have a lot of money but need to get a vehicle running. Derek is the man for the job he'll do anything and use anything as a tool to get the job done. I've seen him use a big shovel to loosen up a water pump how ingenious is that. This is one of the best shows on Motor Trend along with another show called Roadkill. This show is not going to be a show that takes a car and 18 months later come up with a brand new off the showroom floor car. This is not that show. He goes looking for junkers out in the middle of somebody's farm field and sits there and works on it until he can get it running. I sure hope Motor Trend gives him another season and more than just six episodes. It gives an old man like me something to do during the day since I've been retired for over 20 years. Keep them coming Motor Trend you'll always have a viewer in your corner namely me.

Derek, You're Awesome
jorimvc21 October 2022
Derek, thank you for all the hard work you and your family do to make this and your YouTube channel happen.

Your video's are amazing. And what I like about you is that you haven't changed a thing since your first videos. Sure the quality is better, but you stayed yourself. Even with the Roadworthy series on Motortrend. Please don't ever get caught in the fame, don't change how you are!

You aspire many people. And you have aspired me for sure! I bought a 74' Olds Omega when I was 17 and 4 years later I had it restored. Every time I watched your videos it made me want to work on my car. Thank you for that.

And it goes deeper then cars only. You are an example for people. Running a YouTube channel and in the meantime we as viewers still get the idea that you have your family on number 1. And that's just great to see.

Hope to meet you some day.

Please bring him back
ebdrane20 November 2022
Derek is the most intelligent, comical, informative person on this channel. I have taped every episode from the first time I stumbled onto the show. Please don't cut him off right in the middle of his escapades. We need more amusing automobile shows like this one, especially since winter is setting in here in Northeastern Ohio, and I'll be spending a lot more time in front of the boob tube. As stated in another review, his odd ball descriptions of common engine parts are totally hilarious. It would be a shame to let this car care humor be flushed down the pipes and allow some of the other not so amusing shows go on. Please renew this series for years to come Thank you. Impala Bob.

Love this show.

What a nice show that shows how we did it back then. Derek your great. Please keep up the work and truly enjoy show. The cars and trucks you pick are priceless. Thank you and hope to see more seasons. I have been binge watching the first few shows and I am hooked. I have recommended your show to other car buffs and now they are hooked. Refreshing and keep up the great work.

Do you Have your own website. I am from Canada and would like to maybe get merchandise. We need more shows like this to just enjoy and reminisce about good old days. The 64 Belaire episode was one of my favourites so far. Can't wait for week. Cheers.

Real world TV car show. 👍👍👍
mmeierzi17 November 2022
All the other polished high end car shows pushing out $200K show car builds (none of us can afford) need to take note of the Roadworthy Rescue format that actually encompasses the average car enthusiasts budget, abilities, and process to get vehicles up and running even if they sat for years. No fancy metal forming tools, high end paint mixing room/paint booth, or colored pencil drawings of concept cars in this program. No these rescues aren't going to SEMA but most of us average car folks aren't going to SEMA either.

Great program and the only car program I record/watch. Breakout the weed eater, floor jack, and don't forget to taste the engine oil!

The Red Green of Car Shows
baronvonsteve7 January 2023
If a guy was looking for a car show that doesn't feature expensive builds that a guy could never afford, featured many of the same techniques a guy used himself under the shade of a tree back in the day, and presented it all in a style Red Green would find humorous and entertaining then Derek (of Vice Grip Garage fame) and Roadworthy Rescues is a guy's choice.

Spending an hour with Derek is like spending quality time with a guy's friends turning wrenches on the latest project with hopes of gettin' 'er going in time to head to town for an evening. The good natured humor of the host adds to the charm of the program which never loses sight of the idea that a feller, or fellette, doesn't have unlimited time and money and must work with what he has. And when it's all done maybe, just maybe, a guy might just have a decent going to town rig.

Roadworthy Rescues is an instant classic and a breath of fresh air in the endless conga line of car and reality shows. If you can only watch one car show this it.

Another MotorTrend Hit
Bronco464 November 2022
At first I thought of Roadkill, but that's not fair at all.

Derek is a charming guy that's almost impossible to not like.

He and his brother roam around the country side finding cars that have been given up on, and he gets them going in his own way. They do some remarkable work, while Derek does a running commentary that only he knows where some of those words came from.

I'm on my fourth episode and they're becoming more entailing not less. One hour of smiles. This is the kind of work many of us can identify with. Recommended! My earlier remark about Roadkill was because every once in a while they do something similar on that show. But they don't do it with the same style. This is fast becoming a favorite of mine.

When This Comes On I Gather My Composure and Come Out a Better Man!
farmontario3 December 2022
I'll leave this to a sentence or two because there's no need to re-describe what you will get out of this show so here goes! I'm likely the least to tune into an automotive show much let alone follow one! This one is like a good friend, like a TV show you watched in the 70's and 80's say where you didn't want to binge like you can today but awaited the moment till the next episode to see what's up in the build that is the episode and man do you get your viewing's worth! The guys/gals that are in the show are so welcomed in my life and leave you often with a nice warm touch at the end of each episode!

Should this series leave soon I know I'll be researching why! I suppose there's only so much you can do in a series of this type but I can't imagine why one would not want to just keep watching these types of shows where you get to see some beat up relics come to life and often in hilarious fashion! What a great ride!

Great show for the home auto DIY enthusiast
fchadly8 April 2023
Finally a more down to earth auto DIY semi-resto show that's more in line with what the average auto DIY enthusiast can do with your typical garage tools. Most of the auto enthusiast shows on main stream TV show upgrades and builds that require auto training, high tech shop, and skill well outside the scope of your typical home garage mechanic/DIYr. Derek demonstrates what to expect and what is required to bring an old junker that's been rotting for the last 20years back to life (on-site) and at least mobile enough to get it back to your house. The tools Derek uses "onsite" are the typical ones a garage mech has on hand as well and can relate to the basic repairs being done on the show while at same time throwing out humorous metaphors in his dialogue.

If you have any interest in muscle cars at all, watch this!
gharro-2579226 August 2023
I think we just found where all the crazy people on Facebook get their car training videos from? Haha. This bloke, Derek, has more charisma and knowledge than all the other car shows put together and the things he does, and the things he says, are a laugh a minute! If you have worked on any bit of machinery before you will be able to relate to the things he says and does. Totally crazy!

Only in America could someone get away with this stuff!

On the realistic side, his knowledge of these era cars and their history/operation is brilliant. A very funny "clown" with lots of knowledge so the shows are well and truly a great view for anyone that likes cars. Watch it and enjoy.

Not Good Not Bad
girliefingers24 August 2023
I'd not heard of Derek Bieri until I watched this show, and although there seem to be a lot of fans in the reviews so far, I can't quite get on with his manner. I probably just need to get used to him but it feels like he is trying too hard to be edgy, funny and different. I like the concept but I really don't feel the love for the verbal diarrhoea and use of stupid language. I also find the use of brute force and butchery unnecessary.

Anyway once he gets in the garage it all calms down and becomes interesting. I'm only one episode in so I'll stick with it. Like I say, it's not bad, just not great.

Great Job, And Love What You Do sir!
bluecat-5360315 February 2023
I grew up with my father doing the same type of things getting old motors running that people thought would never run again his characteristic and weigh about him on his comments and words and how he acts as professional for that generation just reminds me of the good old boys it should be more like him doing shows or more shows of him doing what he does I take many seasons to come with this show.! It's just all American good old boy showing the younger generations how it used to be done and how we used to do things great way to learn how to work on older motors through this guy, So I give it 10 stars all the way, and hope there's many seasons to come!!

I Love his terminology! Carburetors , the gas accumulator thingy, and spark plugs are sparklators, reminds me of working with my dad and his buddys as a kid out in the shop that's how they used to talk , just some good old boys!

One of the best shows
arihiggins16 November 2023
Outside of Roadkill and. Full Custom Garage this is the best show on Motor-trend Channel. I love watching car shows and just like Roadkill and Full Custom Garage this shows brings it own wit and humor to the audiences. Derek is one of those unique hosts that makes you want to come back and watch the show again. He skill and knowledge is excellent.

I have been watching this channel for years now and most of the shows tens to get tiring after a few episodes. BUT Not this show! It seems there is not a car that he can not getting running with a few tools and knowledge. He doesn't need anyone else on the show to make it enjoyable just him.

If you haven't started watching this show you need to start!!!!

Love it
nzsrcwk13 December 2023
How can a person not love watching or listening to ole Derek and his peps work on cars none of us would generally. He is a man a myth and a dying breed. Come on support him and others like Derek so our kids do not learn how to work on a car from their phones or PlayStation. Me love to the VGG fam. I have watched VGG from day one guys, not one will disappoint, then even lil VGG and the farm version Derek has with doing things on his farm with his family Vice Grip Lodge. We need more men and women ready and willing to get their hands dirty with the know how on what to do if we do not want the general public to fall into their computer systems and live in some meta world with a fake wife, fae kids and fake everything. Come on parents get your kids outta the house and go work on something with them. :)
