With his new boat completed, Ragnar recruits a crew and prepares for departure in a few weeks. His wife Lagertha wants to take part in the great adventure but Ragnar says one of them must stay behind to care for the children. She's definitely not pleased. Earl Haraldson has his spies and is soon aware of Ragnar's plans but is convinced there are no lands to the west and they will never be seen again. After several days at sea Ragnar and his men attack Lindisfarne Monastery on Lindisfarne Island just off the coast in Northumbria, England. Many of the monks are killed and the others enslaved. Good plot, but...
13 March 2013 | by (Norway) – See all my reviews

I am really liking the story of this show and the direction it is headed, and it is nice to finally see a good Viking show. However, i do have a lot of problems with this show. The biggest being the acting, there is so much poor acting in this show. And I'm not claiming that most of these actors are bad, but i think some of the reason why is the accent they have. I understand very well that they want to keep it is trustworthy as possible, and stay true to a somewhat Scandinavian accent. But it just comes off as weird, especially on Ragnars son. It sounds really weird, really wish they just had a British accent. If you are contemplating whether to watch this show or not, I would strongly advice you to give it a go. it is a great show, so far (S01E02).
