Kevin Hart, ‘Real Husbands of Hollywood’ Cast Joke About Reality Shows, On-Set Chemistry

15 October 2014 8:22 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Kevin Hart and his fellow “Real Husbands of Hollywood” cast members kept the conversation real Tuesday evening at the Paley Center for Media while discussing the upcoming season of the Bet show that has been dubbed “the fakest reality show.”

The show, which premiered its third season on Tuesday, is a spoof of the current reality show format “Real Housewives.” It was created by Hart and Chris Spencer, and all the cast members play parodies of themselves. Hart was joined on the panel by co-stars Boris Kodjoe, Duane Martin, Nelly and Cynthia Kaye McWilliams as well as showrunner Ralph Farquhar.

Hart, who has received a lot of exposure from his hit films like “Think Like A Man Too” and the upcoming film “The Wedding Ringer,” said the show has always been a group effort.

Digital Tracking: Dracula to Quench Box Office Thirst With $23 million

10 October 2014 4:29 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Does digital data offer indicators that can be used to monitor marketing effectiveness and predict box office success even before awareness turns into intent? Moviepilot – which studies social data and box office trends – analyzes this weekend’s new movies across Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Google (the methodology behind the numbers is laid out in the appendix below) over the seven days leading up to their release, when marketing campaigns should be at their peak.

Dracula Untold,” Universal

Moviepilot Prediction: $23 million

“Dracula: Untold” could be in a cold-blooded battle with “Gone Girl” for box office glory. Digital tracking has the movie set to bite off an impressive $23 million for the weekend.

This summer’s fantasy hit “Hercules” topped “Untold” on YouTube views by almost 12 million (with similar Buzz), but millions of views can be added to “Untold” when including Facebook video, with over a million views on one trailer post. Thanks »

‘Transformers 4′ Crushes Competition in Home Video Sales Charts

8 October 2014 6:40 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

The big sci-fi action sequel “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” from Paramount Pictures, easily topped all three national home video charts for the week ending Oct. 5.

The film, which earned $245.4 million in U.S. theaters and ranks as the year’s No. 4 movie in terms of box office gross, shot to the top of the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, which tracks overall disc sales, Blu-ray Disc and DVD combined, as well as Nielsen’s dedicated Blu-Ray Disc sales chart.

The Universal Studios comedy “Neighbors,” which debuted at No. 1 on both sales charts the prior week, slipped to No. 2. According to Nielsen research, “Neighbors” sold just 13% as many copies its second week in stores as “Transformers” moved its first week in stores. The disparity was even greater on Blu-ray, with “Neighbors” selling less than 7% as many units – which isn’t surprising, given that “Transformers” generated a whopping 63% of its total »
