The squad investigates the murder of Derek Hanson, a man who runs Shannon House, an organization dedicated to rescuing prostitutes who have been forced into the sex trade and cannot get out. He named Shannon House after his teen-aged sister who was killed when she tried to get away. Police, responding to the report of a young girl seen jumping from a window at the house, find Derek in his home office with his throat cut, neck broken and two other equally fatal stab wounds. From the evidence, it's not clear if Hanson was simply helping the girl or had other interests in these girls. When a State senator takes an interest in the case, he assigns his aide to monitor the investigation. The obvious suspect is the girl's pimp but he doesn't seem to be their man. They soon have another suspect. Meanwhile, Rusty's father shows up at the station wanting to meet his son. Written by garykmcd/edited by statmanjeff

Politics and crime
30 September 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

When a politically active advocate fighting against human trafficking is found murdered, a state senator takes a strong interest in the investigation and assigns his aide to keep tabs on the investigation. Assistant Chief Taylor goes along with this but, of course, Raydor is extremely annoyed. Running concurrently with the investigation is the issue of Rusty's father who shows up unannounced with a social worker at the police station. He wants to meet Rusty but Rusty does nor want to meet him. Provenza steals the show in this episode. At one point he tells a colleague to call DDAHobbs to get over to the station because they "need a snake wrangler to work with our new political friends." He also has a feisty exchange with Rusty over how he has been behaving. As usual, the interview scenes are excellent and the scene where they trap the killer well done. The assistant chief gets in an amusing and suitable zinger at the end. Good show.
