Heart-warming story
seizetheday-625729 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This film is a little mysterious but heart-warming. Most of you may think that what is the boil which is on his side. To think about his life without it, it is an indifferent life. I think it is just a boil, but it gets big. At last, the size gets as big as a human head. It is like a baby. In my opinion, he may want to have a child because he is lonely. He fondles it as if it was his real child. However, the good-by comes suddenly. He drops the window on the connection part which connect it and his body accidentally. Because of it, it falls from his room. Maybe it dies. After it dies, his face looks sad. This film expresses the feeling or thought of character very well. Especially, the last scene is the most emotional scene. I think this is worth seeing.

Odd little short that charms before it pulls the rug from under you (TOTAL SPOILERS)
bob the moo27 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
A man lives alone in a block of flats, doing little with his life other than killing time and leaning out his window having a smoke. He may not be able to put a finger on it but he is lonely. All this changes though when the odd growth he has been ignoring on his side turns out to be something alive and becomes conscious.

As the film starts out it is rather lonely and empty in a way that suits the character and, although I am a bearded balding man myself, the main character is rather sad and lonely just to look at. This changed a little bit of me when shortly after the growth becomes apparent on his side – it is an ugly mole thing and the animation style only makes it look more odd. This is going to get gross I presumed but just as it was about to suddenly the growth becomes cute and the man finds the massive hole in his life filled by a friend. This is sweet and enchanting and, although it is still an odd growth on his side, it is really rather charming.

It builds this feeling nicely until the point where it completely pulls the rug from under the viewer by tragically removing the man's new friend from his life in a way that honestly made me gasp with sadness. It is surprisingly moving and I suddenly really felt for both the characters in a way above what I had before. It is very well done even though it is very sad at the end, concluding on a bittersweet note. The animation is pretty good for claymation – it has finger prints all over it giving it a "made" quality (as opposed to a "programmed" quality) and it adds to the impact somewhat.

A cruelly sad film in the end, but one that is still worth seeing – although hopefully you took note of my spoiler warning and watched it before you read this snippet.

a film about ...

...about loneliness. or need of family. or just a question of health becoming axis of life. important - a simple story used in admirable manner. it is the only significant fact about it. and the motif of to move you. because it is just an ordinary story, very frequent today, because you can imagine the past of the little man and, maybe, his future, because it is only a plot around happiness and sufferance and sense of life. not the less, for the beautiful details and the lead character. short, a great short animation. for the status of admirable art .
