28 September 2012 5:00 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

All of the week's hot casting news in one fell swoop ...

• Who would win in a fight — the Prince of Persia or Wolverine? Heat Vision reports that Jake Gyllenhall will butt heads with Hugh Jackman in "Prisoners," a thriller about a carpenter (Jackman) who takes the law into his own hands after his daughter and best friend are kidnapped. The "End of Watch" star will play the detective on the case who doesn't take to the amateur vigilante's methods.

• Might Q be joining Thor and Catwoman in Steven Spielberg's "Robopocalypse"? Variety reports that "Skyfall" actor Ben Whishaw has been approached for the role of an expert hacker named Lurker in the sci-fi action extravaganza that's set to hit theaters on April 25, 2014 (a rather non-Spielberg time of the year, no?).

Heat Vision reports that the "Blue Crush" beauty will be playing James Franco's revenge-minded (and meth-addicted) sister in "Homefront," the action thriller starring Jason Statham and written by Sylvester Stallone.

Gina Carano in Talks to Join Fast 6

23 April 2012 1:44 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

How does a Gina Carano/Dwayne Johnson team-up sound? After kicking much ass earlier this year in Steven Soderbergh’s actioner Haywire, Mma athlete Gina Carano is now poised to join the next installment of the Fast and Furious franchise.  Though plot details are under wraps, Carano will apparently star in Fast 6 as a member of Johnson’s team.  As you’ll recall, “The Rock” played a toughened Diplomatic Security Service agent in director Justin Lin’s smash hit Fast Five.  Hit the jump for more. Lin is returning to direct the sixth installment of the rejuvenated franchise, which is moving the action to the UK.  Johnson previously revealed that Fast 6 and Fast 7 will be shot separately in the UK and Germany, so it appears Vin Diesel and Co. are headed across the pond.  I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Fast Five, and I’m looking forward »

Ewan is paired with young agent Mark (Tom Burke »
