Quotes

Pinkie Pie: [bouncing around the city in a spy outfit and night-vision goggles, during the day] Time to gather some intel!
Female Crystal Pony 3: [on the ground, looking at the city's central tower in the distance] It just feels like something is missing.
Male Crystal Pony 1: I know. It looks the same, but it doesn't *feel* the same.
Pinkie Pie: [lowering herself down to them on a rope, upside down] Because it isn't!
Female Crystal Pony 3: [gasps] A spy!
[the two Crystal Ponies run away]
Pinkie Pie: Aaaah!
[falls to the ground]
Pinkie Pie: A spy? How did they know? Ah! Must have noticed my night vision goggles.

Kinda disappointing
11 November 2012 | by (Croatia) – See all my reviews

Honestly , I really didn't like this episode. I'm a huge MLP fan and I loved almost every episode in season 2. I was so excited when the season 3 was advertised and I really thought it would be an exciting premiere; I was wrong.

The story began very well, it was tense and exciting, but when they reached the Crystal Empire, the plot development was too slow. There are good points, some of the jokes were really funny and animation was impressive.

The songs were bland and forgettable (which is very disappointing) and the villain might be the most dull character in the entire show. Okay, his appearance was unfit for the series and his voice was really bad. He didn't even have much of a dialogue to begin with, usually he'd just grunt say stuff like "Yes! Crystal!" I liked the part when Twilight entered the castle and she had to solve mind games, that was a very well-thought idea; also the magic door scene was splendid, very emotional.

The ending was very anticlimactic and disappointing. It just looked like an advertisement for toys. It's funny really, a show made by Hasbro and season 3 premiere was the first to feel like a commercial.

All in all, they could have done it better, especially with crystal ponies; they should have had a better introduction as a race and the middle part should have been more exciting.
