BBC One has confirmed details of a new primetime documentary series based around the Metropolitan Police Service.
Charlotte Moore, BBC One's new controller, announced the new commission today (October 23), describing it as the "first ever definitive portrait of the Met".
"We have been granted extraordinary, unprecedented access to film from top to bottom of the organisation to show the public the work of the Met in a way never seen before," said Moore.
"Ambitious documentary series like this are at the heart of BBC One's remit - The Met will provide an uncompromising look at one of this country's most vital services and the many challenges they face in a fast changing Britain."
The six-part series will look at how the Met polices London on a day-to-day basis from root to branch.

Sherlock and I'm a Celebrity hosts Ant & Dec were among the winners at last night's (March 19) Royal Television Society Awards in London.
BBC One's Sherlock took home the 'Drama Series' title and also won co-creator Steven Moffat a best writer accolade.
Ant & Dec won the 'Entertainment Performance' gong for their reality TV work in the jungle, while Celebrity Juice took home the entertainment show title ahead of Britain's Got Talent and Dynamo.
Other winners included Olivia Colman and Sean Bean, who won best actor and actress for their roles in Accused.
Lena Dunham's Girls was named the 'International' hit of the year, while Steve Coogan's return to Alan Partridge in Welcome to the Places of My Life won Sky Atlantic another gong for scripted comedy.
Danny Boyle won a special 'Judges' Award' for his work on the London 2012 opening ceremony and Channel's 4 Paralympics coverage was also given special recognition.

A documentary about Bobby Fischer has won a top prize at the Grierson Trust's British Documentary Awards. Bobby Fischer Against the World chronicled the life of the chess grandmaster until his death in 2008. It was awarded the 'Best Cinema Documentary' trophy at the ceremony in London, hosted by Grayson Perry. BBC Two's film about author Terry Pratchett and assisted suicide was awarded the 'Best Contemporary UK Documentary'. 'Best Series' went to BBC Two's Protecting Our Children, a programme that focused on social workers in Bristol. The awards were dedicated to Scottish director John Grierson, and marked its 40th anniversary this year.
