Storyline

Personal relations between Tom and Ivy are still strained, into which Ivy brings the cast onto her side. Wanting to mend their friendship, Tom, at the last minute as he reminded of the date, asks his friend and Ivy's idol Liza Minnelli to provide a surprise to Ivy for her birthday later that evening. Beyond Ivy already having made arrangements with her cast mates to celebrate her birthday without Tom, the evening has the potential to be a disaster for all concerned, which includes Eileen and Richard, who are testing the waters of a personal relationship. Goofs

Just before Liza Minnelli goes up to sing, she is about to tell her what she is about to do, but decides not to say anything. The line involves her stammering at first and then saying, "Well, you'll find out." Her lips, however, do not match up and instead say, "You'll see." See more »

Ivy is still angry with her director for casting Lee Conroy, Bernadette Peters, her mother in the show, in the role of her mother in the forthcoming Broadway production of "Smash." Tensions seem to be escalating between the two until our director finds out that it's Ivy's birthday. He takes her out, not knowing that she is having a separate party of her own which he has not been invited to.

He has brought Liza Minnelli, playing herself, to sing to Ivy. Minnelli comes off as ready for retirement. Her voice is so-so at best; she is now quite heavy and is no longer able to hit the high notes. Come on Liza, you once won an Oscar,a fete that your mother couldn't accomplish. Time for you to call it a day.

Looks like Karen has made a big mistake in wearing her beau's jacket. Look what's inside. Hope she isn't picked up by the police. What a scandal that would be. Derrick and Eileen would go wild.
