unexpected awesomeness

If you are a horror fan you owe it to yourself to seek this out. Far from "torture porn", this horrifically funny short doesn't overstay its welcome. But the best surprise is how well it's acted. Craig Gunn's performance is top notch and he deserves his best actor award. But Kevin Kincaid and Francine Deschepper shouldn't be overlooked. Their fine performances help make Torturous shine. It's is currently making the film fest circuit and has won eight awards so far including six for best film in various categories and one for Craig Gunn for best actor. Check out their Facebook page to find it at a festival near you.

surprising

A ironic perspective about near reality. Bizarre but well crafted. A paradoxal very good horror comedy, intense, sarcastic, inspired dialogue and great performances. And a story familiar for use of cliches but real new. A precise portrait of weakness and innocent victim, a torture artist and his regrets and the perfect end. The proposition of the poor victim and the reaction of artist are the heart of this interesting short movie.

5 Minutes Of Fun
meddlecore27 October 2015
5 minutes of fun is packed into this little horror-comedy short from Nova Scotia.

It opens with an employment counsellor awaking to discover he has been caught up in some sort of extraordinary rendition program, where he is about to be set upon by a "professional torture artist", who had snatched him up after a case of mistaken identity.

Despite convincing the guy- who is just trying to do his job- that he is not Greg, the camp counsellor. It's already too late for Craig (the employment counsellor)...he's seen too much. The torture must go on! But as the PTA points out...at least he didn't get Lincoln...

Acting is cheesy, but decent enough; writing is humorous, cinematography has a mild cult-style; and there is a bit of gore in there...but it's all about the punchline, really.

Not a bad little short.

5.5 out 10.

See this movie!

I saw Torturous at the 2013 Oshkosh Horror Film Festival and it was a unanimous crowd favorite. If you get the chance to see this movie, definitely do it! The acting is spot on and the timing is great. I can't wait for it to be available on YouTube, I will definitely show all my friends! It's hard to write about it without spoilers.....let's just say there is one lucky camp counselor out there.

The beauty of this film is that it accomplishes so much in just a few minutes, you don't feel like any part of the story is left out. There's enough gore and suspense to keep the average horror fan interested without insulting the intelligence of the viewer. Definitely one of my favorites from the festival.
