Here begins the greatest streak of episodes of all Naruto. The most beautiful, touching, tearful, heartbreaking, inspiring, memorable moments of the anime. Naruto fights the Kyuubi on his subconcious, but he is soon overpowered. Still, he doesn't give up, uses clones, and a rasenshuriken to bring him down. The problem comes when Naruto tries to take the Kyuubi's chakra: as soon as it enters inside his clone, Naruto starts feeling the hatred and lost souls from the Nine tailed Fox. The pain, angst and suffering becomes unbearable, so the Kyuubi tries to tell him that he can't control his power, he is only a small part of his hatred towards the humans. The Kyuubi's chakra slowly starts to possess Naruto, and his left eye turns dark (like his past inner self). And then, just as Naruto asks to stop and wishes to be somewhere else, his wish is granted by a pretty woman with long red hair and blue eyes. Meanwhile, outside, Killer B has noticed that the Kyuubi's hatred was much bigger than expected, and begins to worry same as Yamato, until they see that the process of Naruto's transformation stops in the half.

Inside his subconscious, Naruto meets his mother for the first time. Initially, she doesn't tell him who she is, and asks him to guess. But he is so frightened by the Kyuubi's last vision, that he mistakes her as the human form of the Fox. She "angrily" punches him (saying Tebane) to make him reason, and immediatly apologizes, as she doesn't talks so well, and hopes he hasn't inherited her flaws, like a verbal tick (hers is to say Dattebane, and his is to say Dattebayo). And so, he finally realizes who she is. Naruto is stunned, shaken, and gives her the hug he waited and wanted his whole life, and she gladly welcomes him. This was surely one of the most beautiful moments of the anime. There was no bigger need for him. If Naruto could make a wish, would be to meet and hug his mother. It was the most strongest desperate desire of his life. That's why is so emotive and tearful. Kushina explains that Minato sealed her chakra inside Naruto, so she could help him to control the Kyuubi when needed. And it doesn't matter if it's fantasy, I'd say that Naruto could meet his mother because his father sealed part of her spirit inside him. Her memory and will is alive inside him. Then, she says that they must take care of the Kyuubi, and throws large chains to keep him tied. Anyway, Naruto is eager to ask her so many things. He flatters her long red hair, and is glad that his mother is beautiful. He thinks he'd look better with red hair, though she liked that he inherited his father's blonde hair. She tells that he is the second person to like her hair, and when he asks, she answers how she fell in love with his father: she emigrated at a young age, and entered at Konoha academy. There she was introduced, and met her classmates including Minato. Kushina said that she wanted to be the first woman to become Hokage, and Minato had the same dream. Still, she admits that when she met him, she didn't saw him as a guy really manly, and didn't think he could be Hokage. Naruto questions why, if dad was awesome, and she says she was young and immature, she didn't know much of Minato. Time passed, and Kushina was hassled by other classmates given her long red hair, calling her tomatoe. Naruto wrongly thought that his dad saved her from bullies, instead, she answered violently, upset because she didn't like her hair either, and punched those who hassled her. She eventually got the nickname Hot Blooded Habanero. She was even prevented against Minato, who simply watched, and seemed scared to intervene. One time, she was going home through the woods, and a classmate and his genin brother came to confront her. Kushina defended herself and tried to fight back, but the genin tricked her with the substitution jutsu. He caught her by grabbing her hair, mocked how red it was and for being an outsider, until she fought back to get away, even if some strands of hair were cut. Then, she charged at the genin and punched him, while his brother ran away. The genin also escaped shortly after she stopped. Minato watched the encounter but as she noticed, he didn't intervene. Later, she ran until she saw the Hokage's rock faces (including Hiruzen's), and pondered that she only said she wanted to be Hokage to feel like she belonged to Konoha. She was tired to be treated as an outsider and to be hassled over her hair. Kushina explains her son that she only started to like her hair after certain incident. One day, after becoming genin, she came home, but there was no one around. She noticed something strange, and soon was caught by shinobis from Kumogakure. She was carried captive given her special type of chakra (from Uzumaki clan), and though she didn't have much hope, secretly left a trail of red hair strands for search groups from Konoha. When she and her captors reached the borders of the village, Minato appeared (who was also a genin), and defeated the shinobis from Kumo. He rescued Kushina and carried her on his arms, and told how he followed the trail of red hair. He complimented how beatiful it is, but Kushina questioned why he never helped her. He answered that he knew she was strong and the fights were at Konoha, yet this time, he didn't want to lose her, as the fight was between villages. That was the time Kushina fell in love with Minato, and started admiring him as the Man of her life. He changed her, and from that moment, he started to like her hair. As she finishes the story, Naruto giggles, surely enjoying the happiest moment of his life. Then, Kushina gives him a reward for complimenting her red hair, and tells him something she only said to Minato: that she loves him. Naruto smiles, and when she ponders the combination between the Yellow Flash of Konoha and the Hot Red Blooded Habanero, Naruto tells he is the Orange Hokage of Konoha, just as Kushina points his heart, under his orange jumper. Kushina tells that he inherited their dream to be Hokage.

As expected, was a brilliant episode. Excellent storyline, moving, with that warm enlightened tone of the stories from the past (like the beginning of Kakashi gaiden or Jiraiya's tale). The soundtrack was very good, especially when Kushina started to tell her story with Minato. The story of Kushina is not one of a nice lady, a damsel in distress or a princess. It actually fits Jiraiya's initial description, calling her not so womanly. But as Tsunade said, she grew up to be a beautiful kunoichi. That makes her an original character, with a special love story. For Minato, was love at first sight. For her, it took a time, they were genins when she fell in love with him. Then, I can't help to notice certain similarities between Kushina and Sakura. First, there's the fact of the feature which caused others to hassle her, for Kushina was her long red hair, while for Sakura was her forehead. Second, their personalities. They share that tsundere side, where they get angry easily and punch someone, but also can be kind, gentle and very sensible. Tsunade also is like that. Third, but less noticeable, Sakura usually says Shannaro (especially in the manga) when she angrily punches something or someone, while Kushina says her famous Tebane. Then, there are some parallellisms. The moment when Kushina was grabbed by her hair, hassled, and the way she fought back, made me remember how Sakura was in the same position when the ninjas from the Hidden Sound village, led by Dosu, attacked her. The other one, resembles how was the progress in the relationship between Naruto and Sakura. Just like Kushina with Minato, when she met Naruto, she didn't like him, and thought that he couldn't achieve his dream to be Hokage, that it wasn't serious. Only when time passed, and got to know him better when he saved her, fell in love with him, and realized the kind of man he was. As for Naruto, he liked Sakura since the first day, just like Minato with Kushina. Of course with Naruto and Sakura's story is different, but not so much considering everything. By the way, on the first chapters of Naruto, he flattered Sakura's forehead (though disguised as Sasuke). These are just details, but worth to mention.

Anyway, overall Kushina is presented as a great character, nothing less as Naruto's mother. A strong, loving, pretty, sensible woman, who would have raised her son with all the possible love. And well, that's why Naruto is so happy and joyful all the time he is with her. He has to enjoy every single moment, he doesn't know when the time will be over, like when he met his father. Means a lot for the storyline. These moments are the most important of the anime.
