Yeah by far a pretty bland show. Rumble was pretty weak.

Royal Rumble 2012 Thoughts

Royal Rumble 2012 was the 25th annual Royal Rumble PPV event produced by the WWE that took place on January 29, 2012, at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Attendance was at 18,121 with a buy rate from home being 443,000. This was the first Royal Rumble PPV since 2002 to not have stars representing a brand.

6 matches were on the card with the 25th annual royal rumble match in the main event where the winner would battle a world champion of their choosing at WrestleMania. Can't say he would headline. Two world title matches were also on the card with the opening being a steel cage triple threat match. The other was CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler in a feud that really was more of John Laurinaitis vs. CM Punk. Also on the card was Kane vs. John Cena which at the time was one of the worst feuds on the show.

The Good - I had quite an enjoyment with the World Heavyweight Championship match in a steel cage. Steel Cage matches with 3 stars are not that common and it was something fresh at the time. Daniel Bryan was on the verge of becoming this cowardly heel character that was not well-received by hardcore fans. It's Daniel Bryan for christ sake. The match wss good. CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler was also pretty good but it was far from great. Judging the two talents in the ring you know these guys could have had a classic.

The Meh - I didn't really get too invested in the rumble match this time with superstars in not being so interesting at this period. A lot of low to mid card talent not main event material based on the booking kind of snoozed the rumble a bit. Depsite how predictable it was, Chris Jericho probably should have remained the choice of winner like he was originally set to be. I just felt babyface Sheamus wasn't so interesting. John Cena vs. Kane was not clicking either and the ending killed the match overall.

The Bad - Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, and Booker T being in the rumble showed how short this show was with talent and I feel those entrances damage the rumble a lot. The Divas match was also boring and not nothing to look back. You look at divas talent at the time, it was an embarrassment for women in general to get treated like this.

Overall - Unfortunately this show was not good at all. The WrestleMania season didn't turn into a disaster but this show was not a great start for 2012, which I look back on as an average year. Not recommended.

Score - 4 out of 10: Boring

0 = Terrible : 1 = Bad/Lackluster : 2 = Decent : 3 = Good : 4 = Awesome : 5 = One of the Best of all Time :

1. Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show vs. Mark Henry: World Heavyweight Championship (Steel Cage) - 3/5

2. Beth Phoenix, Natalya, & The Bella Twins vs. Tamina, Eve Torres, Alicia Fox, & Kelly Kelly - 1/5

3. John Cena vs. Kane - 2/5

4. Drew McIntyre vs. Brodus Clay - 0/5

5. CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler: WWE Championship - 3/5

6. 30-Man Royal Rumble Match - 2/5

Best Match - CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler

Worst Match - Drew McIntyre vs. Brodus Clay. It was pretty much a squash.

Most Memorable Moment - I don't know. Sheamus victory?

Top 5 Performers

1. CM Punk - Good Performance

2. Dolph Ziggler - Good Performance

3. The Miz - Good Performance

4. Sheamus - Good Performance and his night

5. Cody Rhodes - Good Performance.
