The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has called for a ban on the new Tamil Kamal Haasan starrer as they feel one of the songs may offend devotees of Lord Vishnu. Reacting to the ban call, Kamal Haasan spoke exclusively to this writer. "As an ex- Vaishnavite and an ex-Shaivite, I can only feel concern for my detractors lack of knowledge on their own mythology. These are small groups who claim to represent the quite majority who know better." The actor-filmmaker can't understand the fuss when the film has been cleared by the Cbfc. "The certification board also had responsible people some I sure would like to identify themselves as such. They enjoyed the film and found no reason to take umbrage. As a popular saying goes, 'It's really easy to hurt someone, but very tough to apologize' and Aamir Khan has done just that. He, in an open forum at the Ficci Frames 2015, publicly apologized to Kamal Haasan for 'not standing by him when he was passing turbulent times during the release of his film Vishwaroopam in 2013'. Speaking at the interactive session post the inauguration of the event, Aamir Khan said, "I take this opportunity to apologize to you, Mr. Kamal Haasan, for not standing by you when your film was banned in 2013. I was lost in my work. But, I want to apologize to you that I wasn't there at that time. I read about it later and felt so bad about it, that you had to go through all that. I think we all filmmakers should stand by each other in such cases and I should have supported you during those trying times. »

Why is Aamir Khan feeling ashamed?

26 March 2015 6:39 AM, PDT | GlamSham | See recent GlamSham news »

Aamir Khan apologised to Kamal Haasan publically for not standing by him when his film Vishwaroopam was banned in 2013. Both the actors were present at the inauguration of Ficci Frames 2015.

"To stop a film after it has been through certification is certainly not right. Some groups take violence into their own hands to stop a film. That's really sad and unfortunate. I think that happened with Mr. Kamal Haasan sometime back. I feel ashamed to say that at that time I was lost in my work. But as an industry, this is the time when we have to come together and stand by each other. I apologise to you publically that I wasn't there at that time. I read about it later and felt very bad. I felt bad that you had you go through it and we were not there with you. It's really unfortunate," said the 50-year-old actor. »
