Czech Please…Live From the 48th Karlovy Vary Int. Film Festival

28 June 2013 6:00 PM, PDT | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

2013 has been an epic year for me in terms of film festival attendance. Along with my habitual movie-watching feasts of Park City (Sundance) and the Superbowl of fests in Cannes, this year’s gorging on films away from home has included SXSW, Panama (2nd edition of iffpanama) and have now landed in the picturesque dwellings of a festival I had wanted to attend for ages. Among the top tier world best film fests which I’ve yet to have attend and have appreciated from afar, the Karlovy Vary Int. Film Festival is up there with Rotterdam, Berlin, Locarno, Sitges and Venice on my must do wish list.

As I’m nowhere near the film fest travel fatigue/grind that some of my confrères (fellow journalists and industry people) face year-in and year-out, my giddiness has yet to subside when breaking bread in a new backdrop. Now in it’s 48th edition, »

‘Prince Avalanche’ is one of David Gordon Green’s best in awhile

27 June 2013 4:54 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Prince Avalanche

Directed by David Gordon Green

United States, 2013

Tonally, somewhat close to his effort 2003 All the Real Girls, David Gordon Green’s Prince Avalanche shows a more serious face than his recent run of comedies.

Alvin (Paul Rudd) and Lance (Emile Hirsch) are two highway workers spending their summer painting yellow lines and hammering in road signs. While the younger Lance spends his free time trying to get laid in town, Alvin espouses his best Thoreau axioms and writes letters to his girlfriend Madison, Lance’s sister.

It’s not only that the buddy script for Prince Avalanche is more earnest than all of Green’s work post-Snow Angels, it’s also that the director visually slows things down. Shots linger in Prince Avalanche for a greater duration than in anything from The Sitter or Pineapple Express. Green returns to a style that’s more expressive, using the »

‘Prince Avalanche’ starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch – trailer review

27 June 2013 8:44 AM, PDT | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

Prince Avalanche

Directed by: David Gordon Green

Starring: Paul Rudd, Emile Hirsch, Lance LeGault

Rating: R

Release Date: August 9, 2013

Trailer Score: 8/10

Thoughts by Tsr: It’s occasionally the case that Emile Hirsch is my least favorite part of things. His fine work in Milk is certainly an exception, but he lagged significantly behind Matthew McConaughey, Juno Temple, Gina Gershon, and Thomas Haden Church in my beloved Killer Joe. So when I say that he’s my least favorite part of this trailer for Prince Avalanche it probably sounds like a slight. Not true. It’s merely because in this two man show, Paul Rudd flexing in Hirsch’s face stands supreme.

They truly do look wonderful together, though, and I love their sweetly antagonistic relationship throughout. Rudd gave a lovely, sensitive performance in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and I hope he continues doing smaller, less overtly comedic stuff »

‘Prince Avalanche’ Trailer Finally Reveals What Makes Emile Hirsch Horny

25 June 2013 5:00 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

If you’ve been dying for David Gordon Green to stop making broad studio comedies and go back to making more interesting and unique projects like he did earlier in his career, then the new trailer for his upcoming indie dramedy Prince Avalanche is likely going to be a real treat for you. Because man does it look weird. The movie is a remake of an Icelandic comedy called Either Way, and basically it just involves Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch playing a couple of eccentrics who are forced to spend way too much time together while spending the summer painting lines on a long stretch of isolated roads. In many people’s hands that sort of non-story could potentially bore, but when it’s being handled by actors as charismatic as Rudd and Hirsch and it’s being shot by a filmmaker with an eye for photography as strong as Green’s, there »

Paul Rudd And Emile Hirsch Hit The Road In Prince Avalanche Trailer And Poster

25 June 2013 7:35 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Emile Hirsch is most often associated with bold biopics like Sean Penn's Academy Award-nominated Into the Wild, Gus Van Sant's Academy Award-winning Milk, and to a lesser degree Catherine Hardwicke's Lords of Dogtown (we'll be kind and ignore Speed Racer all together). But this year Hirsch has shown he has a distinct gift for comedy with David Gordon Green's bittersweet and offbeat narrative Prince Avalanche. You can get a taste of Hirsch and co-star Paul Rudd in action with the film's latest trailer, which you can see in hi-res at Apple. Over the past few years, Green has blown up, moving from quirky indie films (George Washington, All The Real Girls) to big flashy laffers starring the likes of Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express), Jonah Hill (The Sitter), James Franco and Danny McBride (Your Highness). But with these last two lackluster releases, Green's popularity and prospects seemed at risk. »

Watch: Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch Bicker in Matching Overalls in New 'Prince Avalanche' Trailer

25 June 2013 7:16 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

The latest trailer for "Prince Avalanche," the new indie comedy from David Gordon Green starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch, has dropped. Green, who has recently directed a string of mainstream stoner comedies ("The Pineapple Express," "Your Highness") appears to be returning to the subtle indie seeds he sowed with "All The Real Girls." Alvin (Rudd) and his girlfriend's brother Lance (Hirsch) are tasked with repainting traffic lines down an isolated country highway that has been ravaged by wildfire. As the take on the gargantuan task with only each other for company, the two men start to reevaluate their lives while finding an unlikely friendship along the way. Rudd and Hirsch's rapport looks promising, and the tongue-in-cheek humor really lands. See for yourself in the trailer below. The film will get a VOD and limited theatrical release August 9. Watch: Trailer For ‘Prince Avalanche’ Starring Paul Rudd & Emile Hirsch

25 June 2013 3:10 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

I’m delighted to share this quirky new trailer for Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch in Prince Avalanche and, thankfully, I mean quirky in a good way as sometimes that can be misconstrued towards annoying.

The duo lead as the screen as two highway road workers Alvin (Rudd) and Lance (Hirsch), who spend their summer of 1988 away from their city lives. It goes that the wilderness and things they encounter become a place of random adventures and no doubt childish behaviour as the men find themselves at odds with each other and the women they left behind.

Prince Avalanche is directed by David Gordon Green who’s been behind and directed the likes of Pineapple Express and Your Highness but this looks like a great return to serious-but-amusing film-making and we’ve got a lot of hope for it. Check out the trailer:

Paul Rudd And Emile Hirsch Make Quite The Odd Couple In The Trailer For Prince Avalanche

24 June 2013 8:30 PM, PDT | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

I don't know about you, but I for one am quite pleased to see David Gordon Green direct a film that appears to have nothing to do with marijuana or explosions. It also appears that James Franco is nowhere in sight for Prince Avalanche. Instead we get Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch as two road workers painting lines on a rural stretch of highway and coming to terms with well... the big questions in life. While the trailer isn't anything to write home about Rudd and Hirsch look to be in top form, and who can deny that the 'stasche on Rudd is kinda bodacious. Check out the trailer for Prince Avalanche, which is in fact a remake of the Icelandic film Either Way, below.An...

‘Prince Avalanche’ Trailer

24 June 2013 5:43 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Magnolia Pictures has released the trailer for “Prince Avalanche” starring Paul Rudd, Emile Hirsch, and Lance LeGault. Film is based on the 2011 Icelandic movie “Either Way.”

An odd couple of sorts, meditative and stern Alvin and his girlfriend’s brother, Lance, dopey and insecure, leave the city behind to spend the summer in solitude repainting traffic lines down the center of a country highway ravaged by wildfire. As they sink into their job in the remarkable landscape, they learn more than they want to about each other and their own limitations. An unlikely friendship develops through humor and nasty exchanges, leading to surprising affection.

Writer/director David Gordon Green gets back to his independent roots with this character study, which shows his knack for realistically capturing people and finding meaning in their lives and dreams.

Have a look at the trailer below.

'Prince Avalanche' Trailer: Paul Rudd, Emile Hirsch Get Testy in the Texas Heat (Video)

The first official trailer for David Gordon Green's indie-comedy surfaced on Monday and showcases more antics and banter from the films mismatched protagonists. First Trailer for David Gordon Green’s Sundance Hit ‘Prince Avalanche’

24 June 2013 4:27 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Magnolia Pictures has released a new trailer for director David Gordon Green’s (George Washington, Pineapple Express) low-key Prince Avalanche. In what looks like a not-so-typical buddy comedy, Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch star as two co-workers who spend their summer repainting traffic lines in the middle of country highways. Although that description sounds pretty bland, Prince Avalanche received great reviews when it made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and click here to read our review from SXSW. Prince Avalanche will be available in theaters and VOD on August 9th.

New Trailer for Prince Avalanche with Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch

24 June 2013 4:00 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

We've got a new trailer to share with you for director David Gordon Green's latest movie Prince Avalanche. The movie stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch, and it looks like a solidly entertaining indie dramedy.

The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and Eli liked it, calling it "a smaller and sweeter comedy gem." Here's what he had to say about Rudd and Hirsch in his review:

Hirsch and Rudd aren't your typical comedic duo, but it's a dynamic that was executed superbly in the way Gordon Green tailored the roles for these actors, and how much freedom they were given to direct themselves at times and really explore their characters and push their performances.

Here's what the story is about:

'Prince Avalanche' Trailer: Paul Rudd & Emile Hirsch Rock Overalls

24 June 2013 3:25 PM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

The last time an Emile Hirsch character spent a bunch of time in the woods, things didn't exactly end well.

But this isn't "Into the Wild," it's "Prince Avalanche," which looks decidedly more upbeat. This writer was actually among the minority of film critics who liked "Your Highness," but David Gordon Green (not to be confused with David Alan Grier) has returned to his indie writer/director roots, like the days he spent making "All the Real Girls" and "Snow Angels," with this quirky dramadey starring Hirsch and Paul Rudd.

Dressed in overalls (and looking sorta like Super Mario), the pair set out to repaint traffic lines on wilderness roads damaged by recent wildfire. Russ is Alvin and Hirsch is Alvin's girlfriend's brother Lance (say that three times fast). They bicker, argue, break balls and do all sorts of other types of male bonding, ultimately resulting in (wait for it) a sweet friendship. »

'Prince Avalanche' trailer puts Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch at each other's throats

The more I think back to David Gordon Green's "Prince Avalanche," which I saw at the Sundance Film Festival where it made its world premiere, the more charmed I am by its unexpected charisma, its personal flourishes and its central performances. It popped up as one of our under-the-radar films for the summer movie season, and indeed, when it hits theaters in August, it will be a nice change of pace for those looking for as much after the blockbusters have had their way. Nature Makes Emile Hirsch Horny in New 'Prince Avalanche' Trailer (Video)

Alvin (Paul Rudd) and Lance (Emile Hirsch) don overalls and jorts in the new trailer for the upcoming comedy-drama, "Prince Avalanche." In the film, the two highway road workers opt to leave the city to spend a summer performing the thankless, menial tasks of painting lines on endless pavement and adorning the countryside with standard signage. The change of scene proves to be nothing like they expected, and the company nothing like as pretty as the women they left behind.
