The mysteries of life and death in a curious short film
Rodrigo_Amaro24 August 2022
"Pra Eu Dormir Tranquilo" ("So I Can Sleep Queitly") tells a sort of mystical tale about a kid (David Navarro), who while grieving for his deceased nanny (Maristela Chelala), suddenly is visited by her who says she'll never leave and she'll stay until he grows while on the other hand he has to deal with an absent father (Julio Machado) and a hysterial mother (Sabrina Greve) worried about him and her job. In the meantime the boy enjoys himself in between plays and some weird things happening as well while dealing with someone who was supposed to be dead. What's the real truth about his nanny?

It's a quite curious and gripping film with a nice pacing and it's ultimate metaphorical message is very good though heavily cliched and seen in better and bigger projects.

However, that last fact doesn't take away the enjoyment from the picture. I guess a little bit of humor could be used in the story since it's all played out too seriously, too dramatic, specially when we have the mother outbursts with the kid (by the way, the adults in the room don't notice the nanny's return).

For those who like a little bit of mystery and fantasy this is highly recommended, one of the finest Brazilian short film ever made. The less you know about movies, the greater will be your enjoyment of it. 7/10.
