On a new admiralty expedition to the South Sea, fitted with two ultimate-quality-watches to test for precision navigation, world-famous Royal Navy captain James Cook invites the reputed, conservative German botanist Forster and his bright adolescent son, Georg. The knave impressive with his sharp, open mind, making both natural and anthropological observations and reaching revolutionary social conclusions on the voyage to the Antartic, the Cape, Maori country and Tahiti.
