Billy Eichner, the brash, pop-culture-obsessed star of “Billy on the Street” and “Difficult People,” is no fan of Donald Trump. And he’s got a message for any member of the administration who aspires to run around the streets of Manhattan with him, pestering passersby for their thoughts on the final season of “Bones” or the golden age of Margot Robbie: Not interested.

Variety sat down with Eichner to hear about his fears for gay rights, his plans for Inauguration Day, and who should play the Donald in a biopic.

What advice would you give President Trump?

Things are about to get really strange at truTV.

The cable network has placed a 10-episode order for a scripted comedy series starring Strangers with Candy‘s Amy Sedaris. The currently untitled project will find Sedaris applying “her sincere yet distinctive brand of silliness to a one-of-a-kind mash up of hospitality, variety and talk show formats. Through her imaginative characters and unique point of view, the series will showcase Sedaris’ diverse but necessary homemaking skills, from Frenching beans, to gutting a trout, to crocheting miniature sweaters, to entertaining business-men.”

Gay and Lesbian Critics Association Honor ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Jackie’ with Dorian Award Noms

For the second year in a row, the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association (Galeca) have rallied around an obvious favorite: “Moonlight.” Last year, Todd Haynes’s “Carol” swept Galeca’s Dorian Awards, and from its prominence amongst the nominees announced today, “Moonlight” will likely do the same.

Not restricted to films with explicit queer themes, the films nominated for film of the year are “Jackie,” “Manchester by the Sea,” “La La Land, “20th Century Women,” and “Moonlight.” The nominees for Lgbtq Film of the Year are “Being 17,” “Closet Monster,” “Moonlight,” “Other People,” and “The Handmaiden.”

Judging by its very strong Oscar chances, the enthusiasm for “Moonlight” has overshadowed all other worthy queer films. “The Handmaiden” was notably absent from the Oscar short list for Best Foreign Language Film, and the other three Dorian nominees are not in contention at all. »

Bones Cast, Producers Reflect on Cancellation: 'It Wasn't Our Decision'

Turns out the decision to end Bones was not exactly a mutual one.

During the series’ final Television Critics Association press tour panel on Wednesday, series creator Hart Hanson revealed that the network made the final call to conclude the show after 12 years.

“It wasn’t our decision,” Hanson shared. “We were told it was our last year. It wasn’t that we called the network and said, ‘We’d like to finish it.’ [But] I’m not sure anyone was terribly upset or terribly shocked that it would be our last year.”

Television host and comedian Billy Eichner has hit back at Fox News host Meghan McCain, following her criticism of Meryl Streep’s speech at the Golden Globes Awards on Sunday.

Streep declared President-elect Donald Trump a bully while accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the glitzy ceremony. “Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence,” Streep said. “And when the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose.”
