26 March 2015 3:26 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

We saw a teaser trailer earlier this month [watch it here], and now Sony Pictures has released a brand new poster for its upcoming animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 2, which you can check out here along with the official synopsis…

Drac’s pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 2! Everything seems to be changing for the better at Hotel Transylvania… Dracula’s rigid monster-only hotel policy has finally relaxed, opening up its doors to human guests. But behind closed coffins, Drac is worried that his adorable half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing signs of being a vampire. So while Mavis is busy visiting her human in-laws with Johnny – and in for a major cultural shock of her own – “Vampa” Drac enlists his friends Frank, Murray, Wayne and Griffin to put Dennis through a “monster-in-training” boot camp. But little do they know that »

Wild Card movie review: hardboiled rotten egg

23 March 2015 5:47 AM, PDT | | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

Piles of noirish exposition get the better of Jason Statham in this unpleasantly retrograde crime drama. What happened in Vegas should have stayed there. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

I’m “biast” (con): Simon West must be stopped

I have not read the source material

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

I understand why Jason Statham might want to expand his onscreen horizons. I don’t think he has it in him, but I get it. What I don’t get is: Why choose, for such a creative endeavor, this regressive throwback, which would have been unpleasantly backward-looking in the mid 1980s, when William Goldman published the novel it’s based on? (It was first adapted by Goldman himself for film in 1986, starring Burt Reynolds and titled Heat, and it wasn’t met with applause then, either.) Honestly, when I saw that Goldman was credited with the script here, »

20 March 2015 11:04 AM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

By the end of 2014, the trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey was the most viewed trailer of the year with a reported 93 million total views. Second was the trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens with 81 million after it was reported earlier in the year the Star Wars trailer had amassed 58.2 million views in its first four days, besting the current record (at the time) held by Avengers: Age of Ultron, which finished 2014 with an estimated 78 million online views. What does all this meanc Well, one thing is for certain, it means if your movie gets a lot of trailer views it's likely to make a lot of money. This is good news for the likes of Jurassic World and Furious 7, but what of the recent press release from Sony announcing the trailer for Pixels was the studio's #1 trailer launch of all timec Sony announced the »

Game on! After a brief 10 second teaser yesterday, Sony Pictures has released the first full trailer for Pixels, the new comedy starring Adam Sandler (Grown Ups 2), which sees him defending the world from an alien invasion force of 1980’s arcade heroes and villains. Who knew Pac-Man could be so violent?

Check out the full trailer below…

In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with »

Patrick Schwarzenegger Insists Nothing Inappropriate Went Down on Spring Break—Does Miley Cyrus Believe Him?

17 March 2015 5:30 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Things are going south while Patrick Schwarzenegger is south of the border. The University of Southern California junior was photographed partying with friends in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Sunday. While most spring breakers are nursing hangovers, the reason for Schwarzenegger's headache had more to do with the unwanted paparazzi attention than the body shots he did in the pub. Schwarzenegger, who is a member of Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity, is on vacation with friends. A bikini-clad Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority sister had her arms around the Grown Ups 2 actor's neck, and at one point, they walked arm-in-arm along the beach. After the photos were first published on The Daily Mail and TMZ, Schwarzenegger denied that »

‘SNL’ Alum Ellen Cleghorne Has No Interest in Lecturing the New Cast on Black Women

17 February 2015 4:35 AM, PST | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

While plenty of alumni returned for the Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary special, one of the more notable appearances was from Ellen Cleghorne, who was a cast member from 1991 to 1995. The comedian, who has spent the past seven years earning her PhD at Nyu’s Tisch School of the Arts, has largely been out of the public eye aside from a brief appearance in 2013’s Grown Ups 2.

Watch: The 9 Greatest Segments from 'SNL 40'

Yet, when Jerry Seinfeld hosted a Q&A with the audience on Sunday night, Cleghorne was there to ask a pre-scripted question about the lack of diversity on the show or, rather, in general.

While the whole bit was met with mixed reviews, Cleghorne says she was game to do it. “[SNL producer] Michael Shoemaker has always been a friend and he explained to me what the tone should be,” she tells VH1, “so it was like old times and I really, really »

‘SNL’ Alum Ellen Cleghorne on Black Women in Comedy and What She’s Been Up To Since the Show

16 February 2015 12:30 PM, PST | | See recent news »

Last night Saturday Night Live alum Ellen Cleghorne returned to 30 Rock for the show’s 40th Anniversary Special and took part in one of the night’s biggest highlights: a faux question and answer with Jerry Seinfeld and members of the starry audience. The sketch allowed Cleghorne to pose the question, “Why aren’t there more black women?”

Only the second black female cast member cast on the show, Cleghorne has all but disappeared from the spotlight since the early aughts until popping up in the Adam Sandler comedy Grown Ups 2 in 2013. VH1 chatted with the funny lady about SNL‘s diversity problem, working with Lorne Michaels, and that infamous Family Guy joke.

What was it like to return to Saturday Night Live last night? What was the energy like in that room?

Ellen Cleghorne: It was magical. I had my daughter with me and she articulated it »

Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 Trailer Tosses Kevin James’ Bumbling Hero Back Into The Thick Of It

5 February 2015 8:51 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Whether you loved or loathed Kevin James’ bumbling, titular character in the 2009 surprise hit, the unlikeliest of unlikely heroes is back for another action-packed spiel in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

Set six years after the events of the original, Mall Cop 2 will pick up at a time when Blart has reluctantly agreed to kick back and spend time with his family. But as the trailer suggests, a hero is never off duty. So, when he stumbles upon a dangerous threat during his time at a Security Guard Expo in Las Vegas, it’s up to him to grab the bull by the horns and foil the criminals’ plan before it takes into effect.

Aping Oceans 11 with its large-scale casino heist set-up, the jury is still out on whether Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 can emulate the surprising box office success of its predecessor. Nevertheless, we’re just holding out »

Adam Sandler Will Make Ridiculous 6 For Netflix

26 January 2015 1:18 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Remember when Adam Sandler was funny? Think hard; I know it was a long time ago. Ok, so he was never a comedic genius at the level of the Marx Brothers or George Burns, but at least you could get a chuckle or two out of his films. Now he’s just become the Razzies’ favorite actor, and it appears that that trend is not going to shift any time soon. After inking a four-picture deal with Netflix last fall, Sandler has finally announced what his first Netflix film will be: a western spoof called Ridiculous 6.

Ridiculous 6 will tell the story of an orphaned boy (Sandler) raised by an Indian tribe, along with four half-brothers played by Taylor Lautner, Rob Schneider, Luke Wilson, and Terry Crews. Nick Nolte is on hand as Sandler’s long-lost father, with Jon Lovitz as a wealthy industrialist and Whitney Cummings as his wife. Steve Buscemi, »

Adam Sandler Lines Up All-Star Cast for His Netflix Movie 'Ridiculous 6'

26 January 2015 6:47 AM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

When Adam Sandler secured his lucrative deal with Netflix, it was unclear what the first project from this groundbreaking union would be. Well, The Wrap is reporting that the first film will be Sandler's long-gestating western comedy "Ridiculous 6." What's more, the site is reporting that Sandler has lined up an all-star cast. Apparently, with his first Netflix outing, Sandler wants to go big.

"Ridiculous 6," co-written by Sandler and regular collaborator Tim Herlihy, will star Blake Shelton, Whitney Cummings, Luke Wilson, Steve Zahn, Nick Nolte, Danny Trejo, Chris Parnell, Lavell Crawford and returning Sandler favorites Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider (so I guess he patched up whatever beef he had with Sandler that kept him out of "Grown Ups 2"), Dan Aykroyd, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, John Lovitz and Vanilla Ice. Whew, that's a lot of people.

What's somewhat more iffy about the project is the fact that it's a comedic western, »

Why 2 Dudes Have Watched Grown Ups 2 47 Weeks In A Row

5 January 2015 10:30 AM, PST | | See recent Cinema Blend news »

What is the worst idea of all time? Tough to answer, right? I mean, each of us probably has an example of a terrible idea that we have come up with. But it probably won.t beat the "Worst Idea" cooked up by New Zealanders Guy Montgomery and Tim Batt. These two have watched Adam Sandler.s Grown Ups 2 once a week for the past 47 weeks. They want to try to make it a solid year. Good God, why? The duo spoke with, and explained that this torturous process is all for the benefit of a podcast titled, appropriately, The Worst Idea of All Time. Initially, they believed that the idea of watching any movie once a week for a year would be ludicrous. The concept took on new life, though, when they zeroed in on Dennis Dugan.s atrocity.
