Three generation of unification depicted in a subtle and beautiful manner
PavanKV7 July 2023
Sweet, Kaaram and Coffee- Three generation of unification depicted in a subtle and beautiful manner - with a slow screenplay.

Self discovery, self introspection and self realization remains the core theme.

Bird in the Cage or Bird Flying in the Air?

Love or Passion? Care or For Granted? Bravery or Fear? Reliving or Restarting? It shakes and questions the age old existential thinking.

Plenty of feel good moments- from the flashback and college days to mother-son-daughter conversation to husband-wife feeling to companionship bonding. These are captured with gentle touch and also magnified. Background music is soul touching;

Lakshmi's acting is pure magic on the screen and remains the backbone. Her emotions, naughtiness and cuteness factor is so refreshing.

Madhubala (Madhoo) plays the vital role with perfection and simplicity. Her grace, innocence and various emotions are clap worthy.

Santhy Balachandran has supported really well with smooth and effortless acting.

Vamsi Krishna is the surprise element that blends so well with the story and with various characters. Kudos to him.

This web series exactly shows how life can be beautiful, and it is in your own hands to embrace and enjoy it to the fullest; Doing the right thing for other's happiness, and watching those miracles gives immense pleasure.

Enjoy this slow appetizer with a mix of sweet, kaaram and coffee along side your family as this Love saga floats in the air and touches you with beautiful chords.

This story is for generations to be told- from Baby Boomers to Generation X to Millennials to Gen Z. There is a learning along the way.

Delightful blend of 3 generations of women
vinods7512 July 2023
This is such a refreshingly heart warming and delightful essay of three generations of women , discovering new possibilities of their future while reminiscing about their own past .. the casting is perfect, the notes nuanced, scripted just right and portrayed with ease by Lakshmi, Santhy and Madhoo .. the show also points sharply towards the still prevailing attitudes of men taking the women in their life for granted and allocating compartments.. In all this is a really nice and easy watch and avery commendable effort ..there is also some soulful music blended into the narrative which lends a great atmosphere!

Sweet, kaaram, coffee: a tale of love, acceptance, and unyielding spirits
karthikraj8716 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"Sweet Kaaram Coffee" is more than just a title, it's a stirring narrative of three women, each belonging to different generations but tethered together in the same house. They embark on a road trip not just to explore the landscapes, but to journey into the uncharted territories of their own selves. This story is a testament to the strength and resilience of women, who, despite the roles assigned to them by society, strive to carve a niche for themselves.

At the heart of the story is Kaveri, a woman who is at peace with her life choices. She doesn't harbor any resentment towards her past, rather cherishes it. Her life, though stereotypical for her generation, is a cocoon of happiness she has lovingly crafted for herself and her family within the vast world. She's the embodiment of contentment and acceptance.

Nivi, on the other hand, is navigating a turbulent sea of emotions - grappling with the past, the future, and the struggle between her passion and love. Her journey is about rediscovering her self-worth and understanding that she doesn't need to lurk in the shadows to earn the recognition she deserves. It's about realizing that she deserves a partner who will not only love her but also balance her.

The story unfolds under the guiding hand of Sundari, the architect of the transformative road trip. Sundari teaches us a powerful lesson - that true happiness can only be found when one is comfortable in their own skin. The backdrop of her story is her relationship with Deva, not merely an old friend but a long-lost romantic partner. Their interactions were subtle, yet poignant, revealing a shared history of pain and longing. The performance of Lakshmi in these scenes was heart-touchingly real.

The treatment of homosexuality in "Sweet Kaaram Coffee" is sensitive and hopeful, reminding us that love knows no boundaries. It serves as a beacon of hope that society is slowly changing and becoming more accepting.

In essence, "Sweet Kaaram Coffee" is a tribute to women - their strength, their resilience and their undying spirit. It is a reminder that women are not just supporters but the very fabric that holds the family together. A fabric that is woven with love, sacrifice, and an indomitable will. They are not just part of the story, they are the story.

Phenomenal
rajkumar-603107 July 2023
Phenomenal and hardcore truth shown. Indian Women play so many roles in their lives, living their entire lives for family selflessly to keep family intact. Giving up.their professional careers, goals.. yet live in a society which doesn't bother.. So well portrayed in this show thru 3 generations of women...one can only know their importance if they gone for few days.. empower them, make them independent..music by Govind is mind-blowing.. a little stretch of a possiblity but again highly recommend sit back with some coffee and snacks to watch with your family loved ones.. not the ones who don't have patience..

RATED 7/10 Language: Tamil Source: Amazon Prime

Good road travel family drama with great cast and production values. They shoot in real location and its lovely. The story is wafer thin and they managed to hold attention till third episode...

After that it deviates too much and too much of music and sentiments. Cant bear some of the episodes to watch. Then finally the last episode is the saviour.

All the actors did their best and Lakshmi and Madhu are ultimate. There some real good one liners that makes this journey more lovely....

Give a try with some low expectations... one time watchable...

Soul touching
soumyasowmy11 July 2023
Recently in Kollywood many women centric films had started to come, most of them were too much to watch, but this is really connectable to every women irrespective of the generations.

Women friendship were undervalued, and it was just seen as stress buster, but more than that they have a true connect, but due to family circumstances they are losing it since they were in different cities after marriage.

Sunthari's dialogue about friendship will touch every women, and thanks for this wonderful series finally something came out well to address women friendship. In the series she used to mention we used to laugh with everyone, but the real laugh from the bottom of the heart will be from only them.

I too had a friendship of this sort and lost it in marriage, This series touched my soul and I intend to get in touch.

Thanks a lot for this wonderful creation!

Never Ending Story
magudesh-8165822 July 2023
Undoubtedly, this series has proven to be a remarkable masterpiece from start to finish, captivating my attention and leaving me thoroughly entertained across all eight gripping episodes. The creators skillfully crafted a compelling narrative that hooked me right from the first episode, making it an enjoyable and immersive viewing experience.

While I found immense pleasure in following the characters' journeys and uncovering the intricate plot twists, I must admit that the conclusion left me feeling somewhat dissatisfied. The climax, in particular, seemed rushed and incomplete, leaving several loose ends that I had hoped would be tied up neatly by the end. Nevertheless, I can't deny the thrill of anticipation it instilled in me for a potential second season.

The prospect of a follow-up season excites me greatly, as I believe it holds the promise of providing the closure and answers I yearn for. I am genuinely curious to discover how the story progresses and concludes, and I hope the creators take the opportunity to delve deeper into the unresolved aspects of the plot, delivering a more satisfying resolution.

Despite my reservations about the climax, I still consider the overall series to be outstanding, earning a well-deserved spot on my list of must-watch shows. The exceptional acting, well-crafted dialogue, and masterful direction are all commendable aspects that contribute to its greatness. Each episode was filled with intense emotions, suspense, and unexpected twists that kept me at the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating what would unfold next.

The series' ability to engross its audience and keep them engaged is a testament to the talented team behind its creation. The characters' development and the intricately woven storyline add depth and substance to the show, making it a memorable experience that lingers in the minds of viewers long after the credits roll.

In conclusion, while the climax left me with unanswered questions, I am still enamored by this exceptional series and eagerly await the possibility of a second season that could offer the closure and satisfaction that the current ending lacks. If you're a fan of thrilling drama with captivating storytelling, this series is undoubtedly a must-watch that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

Warning: Spoilers
There is nothing you can complain , its cimplete platter. Family watch. To see Laxmi nd Madhoo in one screen was just awesome.

We need more these kind of stories to watch.

All episodes are so engaging with content .

Kudos to entire team in planning this Series. Good ztory , good acting, good direction.

Of course, this eight-episode series is brimming over with messages and they are not just to do with allowing women to find and revel in their identities and voices. It also brings up issues like not being judgemental about people or their relationships.

The road trip gives the cinematographers the scope to capture some scenic shots.

extended family travel drama
saru202024 September 2023
09-Sep-2023: watched first 4 episodes

11-Sep-2023: watched last 4 episodes

a travel-based family drama series that focuses on feminism a lot but more on travel.

The girl was good to watch with her 2 sides of love and another side of her love with her profession.

Women at 3 stages of life presenting a story of their struggles and wants

the old lady's friendship tale was totally unexpected and was a total surprise but ended up well, it was really good to watch strong friendship bonding among women in old age.

Overall, it felt like watching a feel-good tale but felt like it was intentionally extended beyond the limit as well.

Story of a family - with very strong (+ve) societal messaging....ITS ALL IN THE HEAD
'Sweet Kaaram (Spicy in Tamil) Coffee' is a must watch series on Amazon Prime....its a story of 3 women........women across 3 generations and from the same house.....who just break out of their usual din of life and ultimately find their respective mojos / music (their reason of existence).

Albeit a little on the slower side, its a (must) binge watch with some great 'real life perspectives' on how we complicate our own lives...and how to finally LET GO of some of our own pre-conceived notions.

Great choice of cast - everyone fits their role perfectly.

Wonderful job done by all 3 directors - each episode seamlessly blends into the next - without realising that we have sat through almost 6 - 7 hours of watching.....each episode ends in such a way that it wants you to quickly start watching the next....riveting indeed.

Kudos to the entire cast and crew.

Love Contractually
chakravarthy-gayathri4 August 2023
Excellent series. Kudos for playing classical Tamil as background scores after I'd nearly given up hope listening to what's being dished out these days in the name of music. Captivating performance and a journey through time for each of the ladies. Loved the part where the travellers converse how Indians bond as a family, I know that's what make us tick!

The series doesn't scream in your face but subtly brings out the sacrifice an Indian (even Asian) woman has to make which just appears to be a given even if it costs her identity. Witty and funny too in places with no crass humour :) Great message that a woman can make choices and still be everything she's always been!

Unification of three layers of cultures and generations from the grassroots !
jatinschhabriya28 August 2023
At first, Sweet Kaaram Coffee appears to be slow paced feel good drama especially in the first three episodes, your typical Tamil family patriarchy with a stereotypical breadwinner financier bossing around his son and wife. Niveditha character played by Santhy is the the most endearing one which I remained invested in through out the series. Finding her frequently placed at dichotomies between her passion for cricket and love is dramatized with great tact. Even for a Gautam Vasudev Menon production, this silver screen octet breaks cliched love story and does so at various generations thereby interwining politics, sports, family values all while consistently bringing beautiful backdrop and engaging background score. I wish there was a finer insight between North Indian families as he did with the three women, however the only Hindi scenes are that of Vikrams and the poor farmer family in Pune. I easily fell in love with the Paati character played by Sundari and her choice of tshirts felt like a mockumentary to GenZ way of living. The sapphic sismance between Sundari and her long lost love Deva also deals with playwrighted marriages which are common in India in her generation. This show is a whisk of freedom for anyone who feels colonized or imposed with boundaries. Overall, I wished the show could flow into a tighter knot for Nivedita and her selection for Ranji trophy but hopefully this will be covered in Season2.

Such A Refreshing Indian TV Series
luxjeeva2 October 2023
I love how they talk about three generations of women and the struggle they went through.

They show various different timelines and keep us on the edge, guessing what they used to be like and what they are after in this trip. I loved seeing what it was like for them growing up and the lives they used to have.

This is a must watch for every single South Asian family. It's not your stereotypical movie or tv series. I honestly cannot wait for season 2!

Sundari Paati is my spirit human. She has such an outgoing, funny and strong personality. Reminds me of when she used to act in Jeans back then.
