I could go on and on about all the things that are wrong about this movie (I use the term 'movie' very, very loosely) but I'll point out a couple of the more memorable things that stood out. The acting, Jesus H Christ, wow, it's atrocious and they shouldn't have tried anything complicated, like having conversations or using facial expressions to convey emotion. I know that writer/director/star Mike Moller is basically right out of the box when it comes to film-making but you'd think someone in the know would have given him pointers to stop him making a complete cabbage out of himself. Mind you, if I was anywhere near as good at fighting as Mike clearly is, I'd be surrounded by 'yes men' too. The script is a tad crap and was written on 2-3 pieces of toilet paper more than likely. Actually the story is non existent. A guy goes somewhere, something happens, he kicks ass. A guy goes somewhere, something happens, he kicks ass etc: it's really not more complicated than that. Last of all, the mthrfckng sound. I have no idea who was in charge but it was the worst sound in a film ever (that even includes everyone's favourite 'The Room') because at times it was so loud it started to distort and I'm talking about the voice over. Also, instead of using the 'punch' sound on punches they've brilliantly used it on almost everything. At the start, three girls are beating a guy to death, they take his hat to annoy him and throw it back and forth to each other and they use the punch sound for even that, wtf! OK, I said I wouldn't go on but tough, I just remembered something else, when we see him outside of prison at the beginning he has this totally fcked up wig on that is just awful. I almost pi$$ed myself when I saw it, it's a sort of 'mullet' with extensions, I sh!t you not.
There is one good thing about this film, the fighting. It's absolutely brilliant, it truly is and by the looks of it most of the guys were the real deal. There was just too much of it and it's obviously done so as to mask the fact that no one can act or do anything else other than fight but I'm sure there are fans of this type of film who will love it. This would have made a good fight documentary or something like that but to me it's just way too specialised.
If you love real fighting but not real acting then your in for a treat.
