Not much newness here, it's all recap footage. Nicely shot/edited, as usual. [+51%]

Unlike most of the previous entries in the Untold series, this one seems influenced by the notion of painting Jake Paul and his team in a positive light, which is also why it doesn't strike any emotional chords. The Pauls certainly come across as a bunch of spoilt brats, and their upbringing, while talked about slightly, could've been its focus. Instead, through slickly edited footage, we relive the high points of Jake Paul's career, both in YouTube and boxing. Could it have come at a better time? Paul defeated Nate Diaz in their Aug 5 fight, so if the makers could've waited for a little more time, they'd have had even more celebratory footage in their hands. Logan Paul also gives a lot of known insights, and now that he's a special attraction in the WWE himself, both the brothers have bragging rights, even if they continue to remain controversial as hell.

P. S. - I feel nothing for YouTube sensations. So, the Pauls will never be on my list of people to follow/admire. Not going to question how big of a box office draw they're, though. As Tyson put it, money and eyeballs have now become bigger than the sport itself. Therefore, Jake Paul will continue to draw big, which might indirectly help sustain the business side of boxing.

Dont pay attention to the haters
rufusmcd25 August 2023
Dont listen to the bad reviews. I guarantee you they all work for old school boxing. In one way or another. One guy says the fights are fixed then another guy says he's fighting retired fighters and other people say hes on steroids. Make up your mind. Boxing is dead. The ufc is a pale shadow of what it was when it started in the 90s. Hes playing stupid. Hes pretty dang smart actually. He goes the distance with Tommy Fury. Knocks him on his behind. But hes still not a real boxer? He fills seats. Hes annoying on purpose. Everyone cant see that for looking. And thats just what he wants. Judge for yourself.

Garbage film
justin_fliesser3 August 2023
This whole movie is a waste of time. Netflix completely missed the mark to pick this up. All it is a a trash YouTube guy who fights washed up old professional athletes.

In less than five years the Paul brothers will be nothing, and it starts with this brutal film. This marks the beginning of their end.

This film lacks depth and conviction. Netflix did a terrible job and they should have pulled out of this project much earlier. I couldn't get past the first 30 min because of how bad it was.

These kids don't know business and it's the people behind them that help with their execution. Netflix exposes how clueless the Paul brothers are.

HUGE WASTE OF TIME.

Documentary quality is good
marioleed2 August 2023
Regardless of what one feels about Jake Paul, this should be rated as a documentary, and as such I think it is a great documentary that's interesting the whole way through. It is a good production and I also like this shorter, one hour-ish, format better than a series of episodes.

It is, however, too bad that most people can't put their feelings aside and watch something like this with an open mind and judge the production and entertainment value, rather than the people you don't like.

For me, these kind of documentaries helps me hate less, which is much better. And I hope you feel that too.

Uninspired
djurrepower2 August 2023
A very bland sports doc.

Unapologetically edited to fit the controlled narrative. Portraying a superficially rose-tinted story, with very little regard to the finer details that give nuance to the events described.

It's blatant that the documentary mostly just shows a group of highly mediatrained people. That are just saying what they are told to say. And the only independent critisism being shown is in the form of either a 1 second youtube clip or 1 line from a news broadcast.

Don't even start with all the clips from boxing podcasts that the documentary tries to portray as genuine criticism. And not see it for what they are: A media circlejerk that's just there to drive up engagement.

Sometimes the show even portrays heavily staged moments, and tries to sell those moments as sincere. Wich really makes you question if this documentairy is to be taken serious.

For example, the current narrative is that Jake is easy to dislike. And then shows a couple of clips from boxing interviews. Which are known for staging their conflict in order to stir up fake controversy.

Overall a very one-sided documentary. With almost no new insights. And one that doens't shy away from showing it's bias.

Surprisingly entertaining
moviefnatic-632948 August 2023
Whether you like him or hate him, it needs to be said that this was quite insightful and entertaining for me.

Many of the reviewers seem to not be able to detach from their own perception of Jake which blinds them from being open minded to this doc.

Yes it's bias, obviously, it's his documentary. With that being said, there is a new profound respect I have for what he's accomplished and this documentary really highlights his accolades and achievements.

I'll be honest, I never really liked him but this allowed me to get a peek behind the curtains and showed me another side of him which I throughly enjoyed and now understand.

The editing was cinematography was top notch and showcased segments that hyped up certain points that kept me engaged.

Keep an open mind and it's a good watch.

He didn't transform boxing, he unilaterally transferred his idiotic fans from YouTube to Pay Per View
chrismitchell-208222 August 2023
I made it 15 minutes into this episode, and then I had to turn it off. Jake Paul is a former YouTube star, who realized most of his fans were tuning out and growing up, so he started taking steroids and switched over to a sport that had so many self inflicted wounds that HBO had dropped boxing after a 26 year relationship. Paul started challenging has been UFC fighters, who were, for the most part, wrestlers, which is like coaxing a shark to come on land. Paul is not a boxer, nor could he last one round against a pro boxer under actual boxing rules. That's the thing, Paul refuses to be drug tested, and sets the terms of every fight, which makes him not just the fighter, but also the promoter. Boxing jumped on the Paul train head first because they had nothing to lose, and they were in dire need of a star.

In closing, I think Paul is a shining example of everything that is wrong with society. A guy who is famous for having bags of chips dumped on his head and falling down in front of people, is now a major figure in the business world. Don't waste your time on this one.

A huge pile of Paul
suprchunk7 August 2023
The name Paul is now synonymous with excrement, and large piles of it. So it is no surprise that something else they had their hand in is nothing but a grasp at fame, fortune, and inclusion. The only thing these turds should be included in is a flush.

The fact that they only do outrageous stunts to get attention should be all you need to know about these nuggets of waste.

The production quality is that of a youtube video, the "stars" themselves remind you of a shady person that tries selling stuff from the back of an alley, at night.

The premise is nothing novel; follow an unknown on their journey to success. Except there is no success for these genii.

No matter what you think of Jake. This is great!
linsley953 August 2023
I first found out who Jake Paul was a couple of years ago through media articles bagging on the kid. I then got to see what they were bagging him for and I jumped on the I don't like this kid train as well.

Over the past 2ish years my view point on him has completely made a 180.

Just like in the doc. This man is a promoter and a bloody good one at that. The rest of the world are just pawns to his game.

This doc was able to highlight his path into the world of boxing and showcase that he isn't just a influencer kid doing this for views.

You can see he has a true passion for this sport and I respect the hell out of it.

When you have people like Mike Tyson in your corner praising you for "saving boxing" (I do think saving boxing is a bit of a stretch) you should listen.

Bums in seats is what Jake does.

Sadly, this doc will be rated poorly from the people who don't like Jake purely because he is such an easy guy to dislike and everything he touches people will disagree with.

Clear your mind, give it a watch, and enjoy the ride.

He is entertainment.

Absolute Garbage
thomas-c-obrien19 August 2023
This crapumentary really tries to promote Jake Paul as a serious boxer, the reality is he has damaged the sport beyond repair due to his fixed fights. He is a scammer, a fraud and just a really terrible person, do your self a favour and avoid this ego massaging crap. Boxing was great until this guy decided to turn it into wrestling, he really has ruined the sport for millions of people in the name of profit, this guy would sell his own mother for $10. I'm ashamed of humanity for allowing this sorry excuse of a human get the success he doesn't deserve, but for some reason we encourage narcissists.

Great documentary
robertoparker10 August 2023
I've pretty much watch every untold documentary that comes out. I wasn't a jake Paul fan at all before watching this. (I've rooted for the MMA guys) but after watching this you have to give him credit for what he's done for boxing. I highly recommend watching it. It gives you a good insight on what he's been through and been able to accomplish and how it all started. Only thing I didn't like is they don't show how much work he's put in to get to this point. Would have been cool to see his routine and training a little more. But that's Netflix fault not his. Go watch it there's no way someone doesn't like this new Untold documentary.

Always Was A Poser Still Is A Poser.
helenahandbasket-9373424 August 2023
I'm as sick of hearing about this idiot and his brother as I am of the K family-I don't care how many people he hired to train him to fight, how much time he puts in, who he thinks he is, this name even being thought of in the same scenario as Ali is not only laughable, it's appalling.

I have been a consistent supporter of this series since its inception, but this is the one episode that I couldn't stomach watching all the way through. This kid is a narcissist of the highest order and is only matched by his equally narcissistic brother; I can only imagine the level of ego in the home these morons were raised in.

Stop giving these pseudo-celebrities the attention they desperately crave- they're so addicted to the attention and adoration, and the only real fans that support their insanely stupid 'careers' are teens and preteens with zero interest in anything beyond being fanboys/girls.

The Problem Child
hotwheelerd-526037 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I will be honest with everyone at first I found it very frustrating how can this man be so famous. He is a pain in the neck. He has no talent he is very annoying and I can't stand him. Then he gets into fist fighting. Oh great now he thinks he is a big tough man. Then his big mouth gets boxing famous again. People love him and hate him. Can he box his he can do a pretty good job. He is like a new kind of Rocky in a different kind of way. But with all this crap on Facebook is he a real boxer or NOT. Well he proved it in a view fights. It's his big mouth that really sells the tickets. It reminds me of the jerks in Highschool. If you really think about it. The Problem Child is a pretty good in the Hollywood game. Just think about what he is doing and what him. Yes he is a pain in the neck but kind of fun to watch him fight. Win or NOT.
