The new film stars Chris Pratt ("Guardians of the Galaxy"), Irrfan Khan ("The Amazing Spider-Man"), Vincent D’Onofrio ("Men In Black") and Bryce Dallas Howard ("Spider-Man 3").

Also starring are Ty Simpkins ("Iron Man 3"), Judy Greer ("Two And A Half Men"), Katie McGrath ("Dracula"), Lauren Lapkus ("Orange is the New Black") and Nick Robinson ("The Kings Of Summer").

"There will be a new dinosaur created by the park’s geneticists," confirmed Trevorrow. "They want something bigger, louder...with more teeth...

"I know the idea of a modified dinosaur put a lot of fans on red alert, and I understand it. But we aren’t doing anything here that (author) Crichton didn’t suggest in his novels.

Joss Whedon calls Jurassic World clip “70’s era sexist”

Earlier this week Universal Pictures released the first clip from Jurassic World, which featured a scene between Chris Pratt’s Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire. The scene – which you can watch here – came in for plenty of criticism online, and even Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon has entered the fray, branding it “70’s era sexist”…

Chris Pratt & The Boys Get Hunted In Latest Jurassic World Still

Late last night, Universal released the first clip from their highly anticipated dinosaur sequel Jurassic World showing off new franchise stars Chris Pratt (Parks & Recreation; Guardians Of The Galaxy) & Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3). The clip was well-received and not only shed some light on Pratt's love/hate relationship with the raptors and his thoughts on the man-made Indominus Rex, it also gave us our first glimpse at the tone of the Colin Trevorrow-directed film, which is seemingly fairly light-hearted, given a huge boost thanks to Pratt's natural charisma. New Projects: Richard Jewell, ‘Apostle Paul’, Malala, and James Gunn

2 April 2015 9:06 AM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

This week brought us another update on the Richard Jewell thriller that would reportedly re-team Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill following their work together on The Wolf of Wall Street. Deadline is reporting that Clint Eastwood is now circling the project.

Jewell was a police officer who discovered a backpack with a bomb inside at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and helped to evacuate the area. Though he was originally hailed a hero, misreporting by the press ultimately labeled him a potential suspect. Hill would play Jewell, and DiCaprio would play the Southern lawyer who helped clear his name.

The film is based on an article called “The Ballad of Richard Jewell” that ran in Vanity Fair in 1997, and Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, The Hunger Games) wrote the screenplay for the currently untitled film. It was originally presumed that he might join up again with Paul Greengrass to direct, but Greengrass »

Metal Gear Solid Movie Gains A Writer

31 March 2015 9:17 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Metal Gear in movie form was announced years ago, but somewhat vanished from existance. While Konami and Kojima seem to be parting ways, the movie still found a way to float back to attention. Check out who will be writing the film.

It was back in 2012 during Metal Gear's 25th anniversary event that Kojima announced they are making a Metal Gear movie. He was to be closely involved, and Sony's Columbia Pictures picked it up. All pointing to good signs that this movie will be done well.

Then it vanished. We haven't heard anything at all regarding the film since, until today.

Deadline is reporting that Sony has finally found a writer for the film, and it isn't some Hollywood big shot.

Jay Basu is the writer they have selected. His credits include Monsters: Dark Continent and he will soon be helping Universal Pictures reboot their monster flicks. Beyond »

Metal Gear Solid movie finds a new writer

31 March 2015 4:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It’s been nearly a year since we last heard anything about the big screen adaptation of popular video game franchise Metal Gear Solid when it was reported that Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) had been attached to the project. Well, now we have some more news.

According to Deadline, in-demand British writer Jay Basu (Monsters: Dark Continent) has penned a deal with Sony Pictures to write a feature adaptation of Metal Gear Solid, which is set to be produced by Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man). Basu has also been attached to Universal to work on their expanded monsters universe with classic characters such as Dracula, The Wolf Man and Frankenstein.

Metal Gear Solid started out life on the MSX2 and Nintendo Famicon in 1987, titled simply Metal Gear. The game was ported for a non-Japanese audience on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988 and it spawned an official sequel in Japan, »

According to Deadline, British writer Jay Basu will pen the script for the Sony Pictures project.

It was revealed last year that the film will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Robert, with Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Fantastic Four) producing.

Vogt-Robert's previous credits include The Kings of Summer, while Basu's Monsters: Dark Continent is in post-production.

Plot, dates and casting details for the upcoming movie are yet to be announced.

Metal Gear Solid movie lands new writer

Jay Basu has been hired to pen the Metal Gear Solid movie, which is still pressing ahead...

The planned big screen take on the Metal Gear Solid videogames remains an active project, and we now learn that a new writer has been signed up to take a shot at the screenplay.

Jay Basu, who co-wrote the incoming Monsters: Dark Continent, is the writer concerned. He's been working with Universal on its classic monster cinematic universe too, and he now has to get the Metal Gear Solid screenplay in place, ready for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer, which if you haven't seen, we can't recommend highly enough).

The movie is being produced by Avi and Ari Arad, and we don't yet have an idea of when the film is scheduled before. Presumably all concerned would be quite keen to get cracking, though.

'Metal Gear Solid' Movie Brings in 'Monsters 2' Writer

30 March 2015 7:25 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

British screenwriter Jay Basu has signed on to write the screenplay for Sony Pictures' video game adaptation Metal Gear Solid. We reported back in June that filmmaker Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) has come aboard to direct, but that was the last we heard about the project. The studio's production president Michael De Luca is overseeing the adaptation.

The original video game, created by Hideo Kojima, launched in 1998 for the original Playstation console. The game follows a solider known as Solid Snake, who breaks into a nuclear weapons compound to stop a terrorist threat by a rogue special forces unit known as Foxhound. Solid Snake's mission is to rescue two hostages, the head of the Defense Advanced Research Projects (Darpa) and president of a major arms manufacturer, while stopping the terrorists from launching nuclear weapons. There have been 10 games that have spawned from the original Metal Gear Solid.

Sony’s Metal Gear Solid Adaptation Finds A Writer

30 March 2015 3:27 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

In the three years since Sony began developing its Metal Gear Solid adaptation, its sole accomplishment was locking down The Kings Of Summer helmer Jordan Vogt-Roberts to direct last summer. Since then, word on the movie has gone suspiciously quiet as the project hovered off the radar. Was it simmering away in development limbo? If it was, that’s no longer the case, as Sony has appointed British scribe Jay Basu to tackle scripting duties on the video game adaptation.

Released in 1998, the original Metal Gear Solid game puts the player in the shoes of Solid Snake, a soldier tasked with infiltrating a nuclear weapons facility that’s under the command of terrorists. As well as preventing the terrorists from launching a full-blown nuclear attack, he must also rescue two hostages before completing his mission.

A premise perfect for the multiplexes, it’s still taken ten months since Vogt-Roberts’ appointment »
