Luc Besson’s Cite du Cinema Probed By France’s Audit Court

16 November 2013 1:37 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Luc Besson’s 170 million Euros ($229 million) film hub, La Cite du Cinema, may be investigated by France’s justice minister following a report by Gaul’s audit court highlighting irregularities and possible embezzlement of public funds.

Launched in Fall 2012, the Cite du Cinema is home to nine sound stages, covering 120,000 sq. ft., EuropaCorp’s headquarter, two film schools, and various production companies.

The Cite du Cinema was mainly financed by Nef Lumiere — of which 75% is owned by the state-backed Caisse des depots et consignations (Deposits and Consignments Fund) and 25% belongs to Vinci Group, a privately-owned French concessions and construction company. Nef Lumiere put down $189 million for the land purchase, while the remaining $40.4 million were provided by EuropaCorp, Besson’s holding company Frontline, Tarak Ben Ammar’s Quinta Communications and facilities provider Euro Media France.

A public group, the Caisse des Depots describes itself as “a long term investor serving general »

New Images From McG’s ‘Three Days To Kill’ Starring Costner & Heard

8 November 2013 2:50 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

A name and a talent that’s always bugged me is filmmaker Joseph McGinty – or rather the ridiculously monikered McG. Anyone that insists on calling himself that comes across as a bit of a tit in my eyes. He may as well have the word Bellend on any poster or credit in place of his silly nickname. Admittedly, I’m looking extremely forward to his forthcoming action-thriller Three Days To Kill as it features great Kevin Costner looking at an action-man reinvention of Liam Neeson-like proportions!

Three Days To Kill sees Costner as Secret Service Agent Ethan Runner, a veteran who decides to retire and spend more time with his estranged family after learning he doesn’t have long to live. When he’s offered the chance to take an experimental drug that will prolong his life – providing he takes on one last mission – he struggles keep the promise »

Hailee Steinfeld Talks Ender’S Game and Working With Tommy Lee Jones on The Homesman

2 November 2013 5:05 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Hailee Steinfeld has been poised to be the “next big thing” ever since she stole the show from veterans Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges in the Coen Brothers’ True Grit.  The young actress has a virtually unending list of upcoming projects: the Tommy Lee Jones directed The Homesman, the Luc Besson/McG collaboration Three Days To Kill, the Civil War drama The Keeping Room… This weekend, the rise of Steinfeld begins with the big budgeted children-versus-aliens Ender’s Game.  Steinfeld co-stars as Petra, an ally and confidant to lead protagonist Ender (Asa Butterfield).  Asa and she have an easy-going chemistry, never quite blossoming into romance but teetering on the brink.  It’s a difficult relationship to get just right – and it’s a credit to Steinfeld and Butterfield that they’re able to suggest such depths with relatively little material. In the following interview with Steinfeld, she discusses the challenges »

Kevin Reynolds To Direct Christ Epic ‘Resurrection’

1 October 2013 2:37 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

With the biblical epic currently finding a new lease of life thanks to in-development projects like Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and Ridley Scott’s Exodus, director Kevin Reynolds is eyeing his very own! Mel Gibson’s The Passion Of The Christ proved there are mega-bucks to be made from the tortured tales of the ‘good book’. Now, the filmmaker best known for enjoyable blockbusting guilty pleasures Waterworld and Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves will bring us Resurrection – the story of Jesus Christ’s rise from the dead and one that’s expected to undergo a more ‘action orientated’ journey.

Most recently, Reynolds reunited with long-time pal and collaborator Kevin Costner on the epic, all-star duelling drama series Hatfields & McCoys. So, with the iconic actor currently undergoing a ‘resurrection’ of his own with roles in Man Of Steel, Jack Ryan: Shadow One and Three Days To Kill, don’t be surprised »

Kevin Costner May Star in Guillermo del Toro’s Drug Drama ‘Midnight Delivery’

16 July 2013 11:52 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel may not have pleased everyone (although we sure liked it) but it managed to bring Superman back to the forefront as a viable cinematic property, it has set the stage for an eventual Justice League movie, and thrust Kevin Costner back into the realm of high-profile roles after nearly a decade in the relative wilderness.

We’ll be seeing him more and more in the next few years: he’ll have a major part in this fall’s Tom Clancy reboot Jack Ryan with Chris Pine, as well as Draft Day and Three Days To Kill in post-production.

Now, Deadline reports that Costner is in talks to star in Midnight Delivery for Universal. The project, written ...

Though he’s got a bustling schedule at the moment, Kevin Costner seems intent on adding another project to his list, entering negotiations to star in Midnight Delivery. It’s the brainchild of Guillermo del Toro (a man who could practically give lessons in multi-tasking himself) and features a script by Luther / Mama’s Neil Cross that sees a man (Costner) becoming a drug mule in order to save his son’s life. The story on the film first broke back in 2010 with the word on del Toro and Cross collaborating with Universal. Then in 2011, Game Of Thrones director Brian Kirk was reportedly attached to call the shots, although his name doesn’t appear on any of the current stories.Costner is busy working on Black And White and will move from that to sports drama McFarland in the autumn. McG Chases Hunter Killer

Hunter Killer, the submarine thriller derived from Don Keith and George Wallace’s book Firing Point, has been pinging the development radar for a few years now. Several directors and more than one actor have come and gone, but it has now apparently reached McG’s desk.Jamie Moss wrote the script, which finds an untested submarine captain working alongside a Navy Seal team to rescue the Russian president when he’s taken prisoner during a political coup. The unlikely allies must work together to stop a rogue general bent on kicking off World War III. Which, you must admit, is pretty typical for a rogue general.
