Amber Heard Has 'Three Days To Kill' With Kevin Costner & McG

17 December 2012 9:35 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Perennially cast as the eye-candy or love interest in B-action movies like “Never Back Down” and “Drive Angry,” Amber Heard is set to take her talents to a much higher profile project. Variety is reporting that the “All The Boys Love Mandy Lane” actress is joining the McG-helmed “Three Days to Kill” opposite Kevin Costner. Penned by French action impresario Luc Besson and “From Paris with Love” co-writer Adi Hasak, the film will see Costner play a dying assassin and Secret Service agent who wants to reconcile with his estranged family when a woman (to be played by Heard) “offers him access to an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment, which Costner must complete while coping with the drug’s hallucinatory side effects.” Trippy and far out, man. Seeing as the last time Besson set one of his action films around an »

Amber Heard Teams Up With Costner For ‘Three Days To Kill’

14 December 2012 5:42 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Any project starring the great Kevin Costner gets me excited and he’s looking at an action-man reinvention of Liam Neeson-like proportions with action-thriller Three Days To Kill. The project has been co-written by Taken creator Luc Besson, however, the less said about the choice of director the better (it’s the silly monikered McG by the way).

The film will see The Untouchables and JFK star as Secret Service Agent Ethan Runner, who decides to retire and spend more time with his estranged family after learning he doesn’t have long to live. He is soon offered the chance to take an experimental drug that will prolong, and even save his life – providing he takes on one last mission. This decision becomes a struggle as he tries to keep the promise he made to his loved ones and the job he must complete, with the new drug’s hallucinatory side-effects. »

McG already has his next directorial effort set up already, as he is getting set to make the Luc Besson-written and produced secret service action movie Three Days To Kill with Kevin Costner, but that doesn't mean the filmmaker is going to stop collecting potential projects for the future of his career. Wonderland Sound & Vision, the company owned by McG, is working with Red Crown Productions to make School of Fear, an adaptation of the first book in Gitty Danveshari's series for children. While McG is currently only attached as a producer, he is keeping it as an option to direct himself also, according to Variety. "Draft Day" Dead, "Ghostbusters 3" Alive?

18 October 2012 7:36 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Some shuffling is going on behind the scenes at Paramount Pictures in regards to a couple of projects in development says Deadline.

First up it looks like the studio is already in exclusive negotiations and will likely make a deal to distribute the sci-fi feature "Our Name Is Adam". Announced a little over a day ago, Tom Cruise stars in the project which is keeping its story details under wraps.

With 'Adam' coming in though, something looks like it has to go out and that would be its NFL-themed, Moneyball-esque film "Draft Day". Kevin Costner had been attached to star and Ivan Reitman to direct the feature which the studio is putting into turnaround.

Scheduling is the main reason for 'Draft' getting dumped because another long gestating project on Reitman's radar looks to be finally coming to fruition - the "Ghostbusters" sequel/reboot. That film will apparently go in front »

Ivan Reitman's Football Drama Draft Day Gets Put Into Turnaround

17 October 2012 10:40 PM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

For those of you who were looking forward to Kevin Costner returning to his sports movie roots, with titles like Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, Tin Cup and For the Love of the Game on his filmography, I have some bad news. New reports are saying that because of obligations on the part of both Costner and director Ivan Reitman, the upcoming football drama Draft Day may have to throw the brakes on. Explaining the situation, Deadline says that Paramount Pictures has only a limited amount of time to get the project off the ground because Costner is busy with the Jack Ryan reboot and the Luc Besson thriller Three Days To Kill, while Reitman is still working hard to try and turn the Ghostbusters reboot into something real. Unless they are able to squeeze the production into the impossibly small hole all of the projects create, Draft Day will »
