Not a long list of familiar titles in today's batch of MPAA ratings as we begin with Dito Montiel's latest effort Empire State over at Lionsgate. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Liam Hemsworth, Emma Roberts and Nikki Reed and is based on true events featuring two childhood friends who plan to rob an armored car depository. Lionsgate hasn't set a release date yet. Second is Fox's second outing with Dreamworks following the success of The Croods. The film is Turbo featuring Ryan Reynolds as the voice of a racing snail. I'm sure you'll be able to guess the rating without even looking. Other than that, there isn't much. Twice Born is an Italian film starring Penelope Cruz and Emile Hirsch that hasn't been heard from since premiering in Toronto last year so I didn't bother with it. Check out the full bulletin directly below. 12 Disasters Rated R For some violence. »

Dwayne Johnson is certainly starting to develop a knack for reinvigorating franchises; three of his last four movies have seen him joining the cast at the sequel stage, with Fast Five, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and G.I. Joe: Retaliation all raking in the cash at the box office. We already know he's set to return to the Fast & Furious franchise for this year's Fast & Furious 6 (along with next year's Fast & Furious 7, which has just been officially announced by Vin Diesel), and now it seems he's set to return to the role of Roadblock for G.I. Joe 3, which has already been given the green light by Paramount Pictures.
"What we would love to do with the sequel to G.I. Joe, which will definitely happen—we set ourselves up nicely with this past G.I. Joe because we really paid attention with respected homage to the mythology," said Johnson in an interview with Collider. »

In the '80s-set Empire State, Ferrara, Hemsworth and Michael Angarano play a trio of Queens-born buddies who catch wind of a massive money-making opportunity after discovering an "in" with a local armored car company. ETonline caught up with Ferrara to find out what attracted him to this can't-miss movie, how it felt to be the "old dude" on set and see what Entourage movie morsels he was »

The film adaptation of the DC Comics alien bounty hunter character Lobo has been hovering around in development for years in one form or another.
Seven months ago, actor Dwayne Johnson confirmed that he and his "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" director Brad Peyton were set to re-team for the project, along with producer Joel Silver. Cut to this month with 'The Rock' out promoting "Snitch" and he says the film is no longer:
"It was for a minute, but then it kind of just went away, as things happen in Hollywood. For a minute, I was interested in it, but then it went away."
Instead, Johnson is busy prepping for Brett Ratner's upcoming "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" project. He also has a busy publicity tour schedule in the first half of this year with a film set to open on (or near) the last Friday of each month »

Dwayne Johnson has a shot at being one of the most prolific actors of 2013, because he has Snitch, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Empire State, Pain & Gain, and Fast and Furious 6 all set to hit theaters by the end of this year. Whew. He's gearing up to film Hercules: The Thracian Wars for director Brett Ratner next, but since he's so busy, something in his packed schedule had to give. MTV recently sat down with Johnson for an interview and asked him point blank whether he'll be playing Lobo in DC Comics' adaptation of the comic, and he unfortunately said that despite some initial interest, the project "went away." Bummer. More below! Guy Ritchie was once attached to direct the movie before he stepped away in favor of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and then Journey 2: The Mysterious Island director Brad Peyton scored the director's chair for Lobo last year. »

Though his last film Son of No One didn't fare too well with the box office or critics, director Dito Montiel has a new film at Lionsgate awaiting a release date called Empire State, and a future project with an interesting lead actor. Variety has word that Robin Williams will lead Montiel's drama Boulevard, a drama written by Douglas Soesbe which follows a devoted husband in a marriage of convenience until a run-in with a guarded young man forces him to come to terms with his own secrets. The film will also mark a big debut for up and coming actor Roberto Aguire, who has an uncredited role in Struck by Lightning. Williams has been pretty low key on the big screen following Old Dogs in 2009, but he did reprise his voice role in Happy Feet 2. Ang Lee was just nominated for an Oscar this morning for his latest film, Life of Pi, and now reports say he's keen on directing Angelina Jolie in Cleopatra after David Fincher was the latest director to come and go, following in the footsteps of James Cameron and Paul Greengrass. They're all totally different! That's what makes this perfect." The film has been gestating since 2010, so hopefully Lee strikes a deal and finally gets this thing made. 2.)
