Great Feets Over 60!!
GeoPierpont14 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
When I first saw that Cliffy "Shuffle", I assumed the chap was doomed. I did not know this story was based on real life events. When did I determine this to be non-fiction? When he married the adorable girl 40 years his junior. This does not typically occur without excessive wealth, loads of silicone, or both. WOW! What an inspiration to think the under underdog could even attempt to compete, let alone become a champion.

Uncertain if this was a promotion for the vegetarian lifestyle, running with galoshes, clean simple farm living, or saving romance for senior moments. Whatever the rational for his surprise success, I thoroughly enjoyed this inspirational film. For those of us with lifelong impediments or unfulfilled secret yearnings, seeing a man achieve a perceived impossible goal was extremely stimulating and satisfying.

The main role initially reminded me of a Mr. Bean type character and was expecting a parallel with some silly slapstick, and antiquated, hackneyed humor. However, I was impressed with the more realistic casual pace and capture of bucolic life. The story never seemed to lag and the dialogue provided several sincere humorous moments. The film portrayed a unique ability for the audience to share the challenges, disappointments and spectacular triumphs.

High recommend for the poor fellow who never amounted to much for most of life, but took the bull by the horns and accomplished an amazing feat. Beautiful views of Australia countryside, with gentle mix of calm, tension, and joy.

One the best Aussie movies I've seen
michlozz26 May 2013
I know, being an Australian, that I'm probably a little biased but this is a movie that is well worth viewing. To our American, and possibly even English movie buffs, you may have to click the sub titles button. I won't divulge any spoilers to those outside Australia as all Aussies will know the Cliff Young story but again, I would encourage all others to take the time and give this story some serious consideration. It is well acted, with a fine selection of great Aussie talent. There are many moments of humour, drama and emotions that go with the task that Cliff has to endure. It is suitable for all ages so don't be concerned about foul language or pointless violence because you will not see any of that. Please enjoy and, even if it's negative, I would be interested in your opinions.

Classic Australian feel good movie - as good as The Castle
gd160025 January 2014
The story is about a 61 year old potato farmer from South East Victoria, down on this financial luck and enters an Ultra Marathon from Sydney to Melbourne to raise a little cash. With a current record of 860+kms in 7+ days, Cliffy takes on the challenge against the odds and with little support. Based on a true story, this is a classic Australian feel good movie, as good as The Castle which is often portrayed as THE Australian classic of it's time. With a great selection of Australian actors, excellent cinematography, a witty script and oozing country Australiana, I would highly recommend this film if you like this Australian genre (think The Castle).

A Must See film for those who think it's too late to start running
dcassolis15 August 2017
Thanks to the famous Author Jack Canfield, mentioning this man Cliff Young from Australia who ran an Ultra-marathon at age 61 for the first time ever, and won.. and the guy being a sheep and cattle rancher, he ran in his rubber boots after animals, giving him a shuffle, that helped him win the UltraMarathon in Australia.

A heart warming, true story that will motivate many, including me, maybe I'll even adopt the Cliff Shuffle to go further distances.

I love movies like this far more than what Hollywood has out these days. We NEED more kind and positive films.

A nice little movie
ruthfromoz25 January 2017
Based on a real character and real occurrences, this little movie gives a more or less authentic depiction of the Cliff Young story.

Young was an unknown 61 year old country bumpkin who through sheer determination took on all the professionals and won the Sydney to Melbourne Ultra Marathon. In the process he took Australia and the world by storm and became something of an Australian legend.

Keven Harrington was good as Cliffy, but obviously way too young for the role - but it's doubtful if they could have found an actor closer to the real age who could have handled the rigors of the part. He was ably supported by such Australian/NZ stalwarts as Roy Billing and Anne Tenney in the roles of Wally his mate and trainer and his sister. The inclusion of the many years younger girlfriend (and eventually wife) was probably necessary, but not true to actual events as I recall them.

Nothing mind blowing about this little movie, but a pleasant way to while away an hour or so.
