In the remote Shetland Islands, DI Jimmy Perez investigates the murder of Mima Wilson, who appears to have been shot. A broken window suggests a forced entry but the old woman didn't have anything worth stealing. Her son Joseph and other relatives - both the Wilsons and the Haldanes - all live nearby and the constable who found her is her grandson Sandy. The initial suspect is Ronald Haldane who was perhaps the last see her alive. Joseph had wanted to build holiday cottages on her land but she refused instead allowing archaeologists Paul Berglund and Hattie James to dig there. Perez is convinced there has to have been some tension among the relatives, given that the Haldanes are quite well off while the Wilsons are not. Mima was quite upset when a skull was found at the dig. Another death suggests the dig may have more to with death than Perez first thought.- Written by garykmcd
