Storyline

LABOR OF LIFE, set in the heart of the Sierra Mountains, is a portrait of a pregnant woman, the day before birth, the day of birth and the day after birth. Echoing the realist art movement, the film meditates on the beauty of nature and captures the simple working lifestyle of a family living in the woods. Chopping wood, cooking, and building engines comprise the daily duties of Saundra and her family as they anticipate and celebrate the arrival of a new member. When the day arrives, the film moves from the expanse of the natural landscape to the intimate space of the hospital room, where raw emotions merge with the wonderment of birth. Written by Anonymous
