Storyline

Lawrence Yang, a would-be Shakespearean actor, and his travails with an industry that will only see him as 'oriental'. Follow him from his drama school showcase performing his dream role, Mercutio's 'Queen Mab' speech from Romeo & Juliet, through a series of hilarious and heartbreaking encounters with a variety of colourful yet true to life characters; phlegmatic, larger than life Eric Woo who runs his own cattle call theatrical agency specialising in 'orientals', a hapless group of East Asian 'background artistes' on a 'Mishima Deodorant' commercial, glamorous and powerful agent Regine Carey who takes Lawrence under her wing, self styled 'oriental actress' Vicky Chen and award winning theatre director Tobias Morrison.
