This is television in touch with humanity, a masterpiece
19 September 2013 | by See all my reviews

If you live in fear of aging, this show will terrify you. If you understand how fragile and alike we all are, this show will touch you deeply. It grabs you when you're least expecting it and leads you to beauty and love and laughter. This is television like I have never seen before: stripped of shame, self-consciousness, pretension and full of heart-hugging poignancy and compassion.

Derek's characters are not exceptional in any way. And yet they are heroes. The elderly residents have minimal roles and yet you get to truly know them. And care about them. This is a show that asks, no demands, that you open your heart to others.

Brilliant, but certain to frighten many and be misunderstood.
