A little uneven, some bits I really liked some bits not so much
2 June 2013 | by (Sweden) – See all my reviews

This movie was okay, at times it was funny at times just silly but there were other times I thought it was somewhat touching, it has potential but doesn't really deliver the goods.

In all honesty the plot felt like it borrowed heavily from Hangover 2 and Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and while those 2 especially the latter IMO are good stuff this yeah just isn't as good.

The main character played by called Kevin played by Kevin Wu was pretty likable as a somewhat geeky stiff dude who just got dumped by his gf, Dante Basco who I usually likes comes off as a bit douchy at times but he redeems himself from that in the end he plays a guy called Dante (go figure).

Reading through the castlist I noticed that half the peoples characters name are the same as they are named IRL why that is I'm not sure but I imagine they kinda play themselves in some way? Even though yeah the plot can HARDLY be based on a true story.

The plot yeah... It hangs by a loose thread (pun intended) it's all about putting the characters in different funny situations, which sometimes is not as funny as I'm sure they intended it to be but it's never boring either.

There were some nice moments towards the end were I felt like it was somewhat moving actually, but yeah the overall experience is too uneven to say it's a very good movie or anything although I don't regret watching it.

And I do like to see Asian-Americans doing other movies than just martial arts based ones, for an Asian-American comedy I would recommend Ping Pong Playa instead though but this one's okay too.
