The last film of cinematographer Harris Savides, who died in October 2012, six months after the end of principal photography. When he became ill partway through shooting, Christopher Blauvelt was brought on to complete the film; the two share credit.
During the interview with "Kate" from Vanity Fair scene Nicki (Emma Watson )mentions her sister Gabby. In the movie Nicki's sister is named Emily...Alexis Neiers (the "real" Nicki) however DOES have a younger sister named Gabby.
Throughout the film, all the members of the gang is seen doing drugs at one time or another, with the notable exception of Emma Watson's character. That same character, while seen (rarely) holding a cigarette and (even more rarely) put it to her lips, is quite obviously never actually inhaling said cigarette (see Goofs).

Sofia Coppola had lunch several times with real-life convicted Bling Ring burglar Nick Frank Prugo, the basis of the film's character Marc. Prugo, and his gang of thieves, reportedly stole over $3 million from celebrity homes. After serving a year in jail, Prugo claimed, as of May 2013, that he had not seen the film yet.
