Being the creator and artist behind the characters Mike V. Derderian animated the main character's keyframes - Geisha L.O.V.E.
The story is inspired by Mike V. Derderian's work as a graffiti artist. Mike has been spray painting in the streets of his city Amman in Jordan under the name Sardine.
The film was produced thanks to a generous grant from the Royal Film Commission (RFC) and Film Fund in Jordan.
Mike V. Derderian wrote, storyboarded, and created all the characters / robots in the film. He even animated the keyframes of Geisha L.O.V.E. on his own. He also voiced two characters - he is an experienced radio disc jockey and voice over artist of 16 years - out of budget related reasons.
Geisha L.O.V.E. is inspired by the director's love of graffiti, Japanese Mehca and Anime, Star Wars, George Lucas, Haya Miyazaki, Peter Chung, Genndy Tartakovsky and of course Blade Runner, among many other things.
When asked about the inspiration he drew from Ghibli Studio in particular even though the film and its style is not reflective of their style Mike said it was inspired the same way you get inspired by music if you are musician. "You don't go about writing the exact same piece of music you just heard ... you create your own."
