Storyline

Following a supernatural radio announcement Leo, Pearl and Hal arrive at Annie and Tom's to pay homage to George and Nina's baby daughter Eve, the Chosen One, who will save the world. Knowing that this means the extermination of vampires, Hal is less pleased to see her than the others but remains the only one of the three to survive when Pearl and Leo, having declared their love for each other, pass over. Hal appears to come close to killing the baby but is prevented by Tom. However, following a visit to a pawn shop by the two boys in keeping with Leo's last wish, Fergus, the successor to Griffin, gets on their trail. Written by don @ minifie-1

A vampire, a ghost and a werewolf… visit Barry Island
13 February 2012 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

After the shock death of George I wasn't sure if the series was on its way out; after all, to paraphrase Lady Bracknell, to lose one main character is unfortunate but to lose two seems like carelessness. Thankfully we still have Annie, the third of the original characters, and she has been joined by werewolf Tom so just needs a vampire for the show to return to its original premise. Last week we were introduced to another vampire/ghost/werewolf household and this week the visit Barry after an 'angel' in the radio tells the dying Leo that they must go there to see the baby Eve. Once there the vampire Hal isn't exactly welcomed by Tom and the ghost Pearl isn't too keen on Annie. This situation isn't helped when they have no idea how Eve can help Leo.

This episode had far less action than the series opener and what action there was took place off camera; yet despite that I preferred it. The group from Southend were interesting and their story was surprisingly poignant given how long they have featured. Having a vampire how appears to be obsessive compulsive was interesting and quite a contrast to Mitchell; I think Hal could make a good addition to the show. The acting was decent; I especially liked the performance of Louis Mahoney as the elderly werewolf Leo. Now that we know who the main characters will be from now on I look forward to seeing how this series progresses.
