The split pea place mentioned by Joel is Pea Soup Andersen's a famous and long standing road stop in Buellton CA known for its split pea soup and for generations has been a favorite stop on long drives from SF area to the LA area. This road trip occurs the week after the holidays, but it's during the same time as a long city councilman campaign, which, being as long as it is, the election is probably in November. Therefore, the timing of this road trip seems to be off. See more »
